I just purchased a Marlin 30-30(336w) and the rear sights are dovetailed. The instruction manual says to tap them either way to adjustthe windage. I've been looking at the peep sights from Williams but i didn't know if they offer that much improvement. Please help, thanks.

Use a small brass hammer or a better yet a brass tapping rod to ease the rear sight, very gently.

Or are you asking if there are better sights than the buckhorn--because there most certainly are. I've swapped over to a Sourdough front and express flip rear on my Winchester '94 and like it a lot better

Where is the best place to get those sights? I will probably change the buckhorn sights so any input would be appreciated, thanks.

The Williams peep sights(or Lyman) that fit on the receiver are adjustable for windage and elevation.

I put a Williams on my Winchester Model 94, and replaced the front bead with a post; I like the combination a lot better than the original buckhorn rear/bead front.

+1 with Firehand. You will be surprised how much better you can shoot with aperature sights compared to the Marlin factory sights.

Thanks for the help guys, I think I'm gonna go for the Williams peep sights. Their website says that the sight uses the rear screw on the receiver where a scope mount goes. Should I tap out the existing (dovetailed)buckhorn sight, or would the Williams sight clear them.

You will have to wait until you mount the peep sight and see if it clears the factory sight. Sometimes they do, and sometimes they don't. If you have to remove the factory sight, Williams also makes an aluminum slot blank that fits into the empty slot.

I have the Williams Fire sight set on my Marlin. I like them a lot.

Mine are on a 1894 SS. I mounted my rear sight in the forward holes in the receiver to keep the sight away from the hammer.
