i have a marlin 336w in 30-30, and am looking to mount a peep sight on the receiver. i figured i would need to get the semi-buckhorn sight out of the way some how and the marlin website says that it came with a folding rear sight. maybe i am overlooking something but i cant see any type of a hinge or any way that this thing is supposed to fold down. am i missing something really obvious, or did i get a non-folding sight somehow?

you likely dont have the folder... I put one on mine so I could equip it with the peep as well without leaving a gap where the old sight used to be... the folder looks much like that of a 10/22... it has a hinge near the base.. adjustments are made by loosening a screw and pushing the site up or down before tightening the screw when the desired elevation has been achieved... if your site is longer than it is wide (the whole assembly..) with what looks like steps allowing elevation it is not the folder.

Knock out the rear sight with a brass drift. Replace it with one of these Marble slot blanks from Brownells. Looks good and protects the dovetail.
