Sighting In

Hi guys I just got my brand new Remington 22-250 Model 700, also i got a brand new scope its a tasco 3-9x40mm. I plan to site it in this weekend but i wanted to know how many yards should I site it in at. Paralax setting is it 100 yards. Thanks

Well....that depends on the average distence you plan on shooting.

Go ahead and start with 100 yds, once you have that worked out well you can change it to a 200 yd zero pretty easily.

Make sure you mechanical zero the scope before starting to shoot sighters so you have the greatest amount of adjustment. If you are going to short anything, leave yourself more room to make "come-ups" as you probably won't need to ever adjust your group downward very far.

start at 25 yards, get it dead on left and right, and within a couple inches either way vertically. back off to 100 and set it 1.5" high at 100. back off to 250, set it dead on and you are good to go.
