I love my P220 so I'm not bashing Sig...but I see no advantage of the P290 over the tried and true Kahr PM9. Not to mention Sig's track record on new releases
I'll be checking that 290 out. My ex PM9 couldn't be trusted even after a trip back to Kahr but I know there's plenty of good ones out there. It's not likely I'll ever sway from my J frame for carry but you never know. I never warmed up to the Lcp I had even though it was 100% out of the box. A friend has the Sig 238HD and it's sweet.....but still a .380. Nothing against a .380 but in semi's I prefer a 9mm.
With Sigs recent R&D for new products being handled by the consumer I would personally wait for the initial bugs to be worked out before buying a 290. Look at the recent P250 and P238s. Early guns were full of issues.
I personal am not happy about the DAO trigger but am willing to wait and see how P250 like it is before I judge it.
My new PM9 is going back to Kahr for work. The magazines are too tight in the magazine well, and I have had too many FTFs and FTEs, even after the requisite 200 rounds break in period. I would have expected better QC for an $800 plus pistol. Had the the P290 been available or had I known it was going to be available two months ago, I think I would have gone that route.
