P226ST 9mm with Nills! It just doesn't get any better
Nice pair and picture, thanks for sharing.

Royalsalute-
I was challenged with a 9mm shoot out on any distance for $1000.00, should I take him up on this wager?
What kind of gun does he shoot and how good of a shot are??
$1000 buys alot of ammo or a new Sig

Samuel Adams-
Sounds like you have a keeper for a wife :) Congrats!!

It really shows how good we have it in the USA :)
Don't worry about your english. You speak better than half of the posters on this board, and they live in the US! :uhoh:

MustangHowie-
If you get a chance, how about a group shot of your P226s.

UKarmourer-
First of, Welcome and THANK YOU for your service!

What model designation does the Army give to the P226? (P228 = M11)
What group will be issued the P226??

Stay safe!

First Sig

Fellows,
I am happy to say that I finally broke down and bought my first Sig yesterday. It is a 9mm P239 SAS, byfar the best feeling gun in my "never big enough" arsenal. I have a couple of questions, First, I paid $800 for it....is this a good deal for this gun? Most shops around here were wanting $1000 for it but have heard some people say that $800 seemed high. Secondly, I want a Milt Sparks VMII holster for it but do not think I can wait the 6 month waiting period by ordering from their website. Does anyone know of any other sources on the net to purchase one from.
Thanks,
Tuck

ksigtuck, I just purchased a 9mm P239 SAS this week for $800. Personally, I think we did pretty good! I'd bet the folks who think $800 is high purchased theirs before all the price increases and general craziness of the past year. I've seen several references to www.ubgholsters.com as an alternate to Milt Sparks. I don't own either, so I can't give an opinion.

Welcome to THR and the "club" :)

$800.00 is about average for a new P239 SAS 9mm. I paid $765.00 otd for mine last April. The MSRP is around $995 for them, but nobody pays that

VMIIs are hard to come by without waiting.

The only place that I've seen them is on eBay :barf: and they pop up regularly in the SIGForum classifieds
http://sigforum.com/eve/ubb.x?a=cfrm&s=674608412

Top Gun Supply gets them every now and then. You can sign up to receive an email when they come in. Tom and Michelle are excellent to deal with. They have LOTS of Sig stuff! http://www.topgunsupply.com/

Another place you can find them is Lightning Arms. I've never dealt with them personally, but I've seen many positive posts about them

Thanks

Fellows,
Thanks for the help, with these cost increases on firearms and ammunition I don't know how people are supposed to practice anymore. I guess everything goes up except wages. I have signed up to be notified when some holsters become available at topgunsupply so hopefully it will not be too long. It is definitely worth it to me to spend $40 more dollars for the holster instead of waiting 6 months. I have also been looking at Wilderness Tactical at their instructors belts. I am tired of having a good holster mismatched with a cheap belt, all of my leather belts loose shape and sag teh holster within a couple of weeks. Does anyone currently own or have experience with these instructor belts, are they of good quality to support a gun and holster daily?
Thanks for all the help,
Tuck

I've used the Wilderness Instructor belts for years. They are still the best of all the copies out there.

I usually get the "5 stitch", as its the stiffness I prefer. The belt with the insert was too stiff and would occasionally pinch, which is very annoying. I normally wear a 1.75" belt, as it supports better, but I do have a couple of the 1.5" belts too.

I think once you try one, you'll never go back to a leather belt. The Instructor belts are minutely adjustable through their size range, so theres no more trying to hit that hole. Its always "just right", and allows for slight changes in clothing, gear and weight. The only downside to them is, they are often not dressy enough if you have to dress up, and they are a gun belt that tends to stand out to those who know.

As for Top Gun Supply, you probably wont have to wait to long. I've bought a number of VMII's from them and I dont think I waited more than a couple of weeks for them to mail me back.

They do come with 1.5" loops, so if you want bigger (1.75"), you need to call Milt Sparks and order them. I believe they go for about $17 a set, and they usually get them out within the week.

i got my first sig over the summer and my secound for christmas the.40 229 is great but the mosquito i havnt even shot yet because i didnt realy want it but it was a gift so i have to keep it for atleast a little while so she wont get her feelings hurt

I looked at the mosquito when I was browsing for a .22 but ended up going with the Walther P22. For a .22 I did not want to spend a whole lot of money and I found the mosquito a bit to pricy for what I would be needing it for (mainly sitting on the hip to shoot snake as I mow the yard). The Walther has served the purpose and has turned out to be a great gun without any problems. It is actually sitting beside me right now with a Streamlight TLR-1 off my G23 on it waiting for this pesky cat that keeps coming on the porch trying to attack the barn kittens.

I have a P22 too. Both are fun little guns. Right now, my M3X is on my Mosquito. I use it for trash can duty. :)

I'm in -

Thanks for thinking of this. I have owned a Sig 229 in .357 Sig, Crimson Trace grips and Trijicon night sights for about a year. My first Sig and I absolutely love it.

I've put roughly 500 rounds through it and have had not a single problem. Great gun.

ksigtuck, watch out for that pesky cat. He probably wants to kill the kittens so their mama cat will stop producing milk, and then come into heat so me can mate with her. Nasty characteristic of cat biology. OK, back on topic; I just picked up another P229, with a non-railed stainless frame, and a slide with a treatment much like an Equinox, but with forward cocking serrations. This was from a stocking dealer special run, probably made in 2007. No, can't do pics; the latest version of Adobe is holding all of my pics hostage inside my computer; I can look at them, but not e-mail them or post them anywhere.

Somebody greased my slippery slope. Last week I got a CDNN Sig P6 (225) 9mm. Virtually new. Today my Sig 220 .45ACP came in.:D
Sig makes Evil Black Rifles? Oh, Oh???:what:
Dear Grandson, about your college fund...sorry, Grampa.

Finally got to shoot the new P239 SAS today. The gun feels great but the trigger is going to take some getting used to. No problems to report other than my lack of practice in awhile starting to show. Oh well, needing more practice sounds like a good excuse to shoot it again tomorrow.

Hey guys I was wondering what would the price be on used sig p229 chambered in .40 cal with 2 10 rd mags, shows a little bit of wear but not to bad. looks very similar to the one pictured on the previous page as far as wear goes, barrel and slide look great inside. the guy is asking 450 for the gun is this reasonable? please let me know as i want to get it today if so

spoonman72-
Welcome!
Like AK said, thats a good price.
Used P229s go from about $450 - $600 depending on box, papers, mags and condition. They are great shooting guns and their size makes them very versatile. They are easy to conceal and make a great home defense gun. The barrel is also long enough for them to be very accurate.
If you end up buying it, be sure to post some pictures.
Good luck!

:)
Hi guys I'm new here, I joined after seeing that you have a Sig Club. I have a modest collection of handguns, but lately the Sig bug has been consuming my thoughts. This started after I purchased a P239 9mm, followed by a SP2022 .40 and now I am awaiting a P6 from AIM.
I've actually been reading and enjoying your posts for some time, but I decided to break my silence after finding a EFK Firedragon barrel for the P225 on the internet. I'm not too fond of the idea of having ports or an extended barrel for this particular gun, but I am curious if this barrel will cure the potential 147gr. JHP feeding problems that I've been reading so much about. I'm also interested in their Sig Pro 9mm conversion barrel.
I look forward to reading any experiences you guys have with EFK barrels.

Holster

Fellows,
I am looking for a holster for my P239 and want to hear some opinions on Milt Sparks VM2 vs. Comp-Tac IWB holsters. I know that everyone has personal choices so let me here some of yours and why you would choose one over the other.
Thanks,
Tuck

Problem is Barsto doesn't make a P225 barrel and they stopped making the Sig Pro barrels. For only $25 dollars more I would rather have a Barsto.

Holster for P239

I am still trying to decide between the MS VM2 and a Comp-tac holster. A LEO friend of mine swears by the comp tac holsters but I want some more opinions on extra wear on the gun by the use of a kydex holster compared to leather. Now mind you, I don't mind a gun showing some wear but I don't want to completely destroy the finish either. The gun is the P239 SAS with the the stainless slide and wooden grips. Any help would be appreciated as I really need to get something good to carry this thing in.
Thanks,
TUck

ksigtuck,

Great question. I've always thought that steel belongs in leather and plastic belongs in plastic. I'm not sure where alloy guns belong.

I have a VM2 on order for my 1911 and I keep my Glock 22 in a Comp-Tac Infidel. I'm looking at Sigs but don't own one yet. Sounds like a good poll question.

Ksig, that's a tough choice. You've picked two of the better or best holsters in both leather and kydex. I've got all Kydex for my Sigs and I'm comfortable with them. This far, I've not noticed any great deal of wear on any of my guns.
