New Sig

Hi, I'd like to join the Sig club.
Today's a day of firsts: My first post ever; bought my first pistol. A P229R. I can't say enough good about it. Compared to the .45 and the 9mm I used to carry in service, its as if this gun was built just for my hands. Perfect and comfortable. It even makes my shooting look good!
Any recommendations on cleaning gear (especially what to stay away from)?

Welcome to THR and to the Sig Club!! :D
Glad to have you here. What a great day for you. :D Good luck with your P229. Is it a 9mm or .40S&W/.357sig? The P229 is a great platform and all around gun. Its the perfect size for a range gun, CCW, or HD.
As far as cleaning, I clean all of my Sigs (and guns) with Hoppes #9. When they are all cleaned up, I wipe them down with a silicone cloth before I put them in my safe. Sigs are generally easy to clean and take care of. Good luck with your P229 and thanks for making your first post here on the Sig Club!

How many Sigs are required for membership in this club??? Is 7 enough?? :)

oops!! Is 8 enough?? I can't believe I forgot about one of them!

I'd like to join but I only have one CPO p226...but im looking into adopting.

So as a courtesy I would like to let everyone know that I am willing to help those that can't decide which sig to shoot or have a hard time cleaning all your sigs. Starting this month in my new adopt a Sig program®, I will be accepting Sigs of all calibers if you dont have a Sig to donate, monetary donations are welcome as well to keep these Sigs fed and clothed.

man I can't believe this!!! I forgot about another one!!! make that 9 please. The bad part is I have shot all of them within the past week and I still forgot a couple of them!!!!

Everyone is welcome!

LOL - I like the way you think. :D How's that 226? IMHO - the full sized Sigs (P220/P226) are the best shooters out there. The added length of the barrel makes them real tack drivers.

Don't need any to join - all are welcome :)
Sigs do have a way of multiplying  :scrutiny:
Looks like you better take inventory and a "family" photo to post here.

SX1guy-
There are a few members here that have P210s. I don't own one or have never shot one, but I've read that they are amazingly accurate. Try posting your picture again - it's not coming up.

Has anyone here shot the Sig 210...? are they really that accurate...?

Years ago I had a customer who worked as an armorer for Sig. He said that the most accurate pistol they ever made was the P220, noticeably more accurate than the P210. I just bought a used P220 and I can't argue with him.

I love SiG

I've noticed no one has posted a 556 yet, so I thought I'd go ahead and show of mine. I have two SiGs so far: a 556 rifle and a P229R DAK .357.

Here's my 556 with an EOTech 512 on top:

And here is my 556 in action. (This is not me shooting it, though).

And finally, here I am punching holes with my 229:

Strat54: As 1BR pointed out, Hoppes is it. I might also recommend a "Bore Snake" they are wonderful to clear gunk at the range.

If I may add lube to the suggestions, I LOVE "Slide Glide" I tried it out about 4 months ago and I'll never go back to regular oil. You can get it here:

I agree with you on the slide glide, I havn't used it on a sig yet as I should have my first one next week some time.

Great pictures - thanks for posting!

Thanks for the link.
Which viscosity do you use on your Sigs?

chingon-
What model Sig are you getting?

I mostly use TW25B for lube, along with Hoppes and Eezox for cleaning. A cheap, basic cleaning kit works fine, just get a bunch of patches, a good jag, and a bunch of brushes, appropriate for the caliber. A can of Gun Scrubber is handy too. Your already on the right track, the important thing is you clean it.

Scorpiusdeus, chingon, Ak103K, Thanks for the input, I'll start researching the particulars ASAP.
