Thanks Lone star, and I know how you feel. I fled southern CA, San Diego to be exact.

So I bought this SIG226 (9mm) in 2005. I had never fired it. It just sat there all this time. I took it out yesterday to the range and couldn't believe the accuracy. Amazing gun, this could be my most accurate gun yet. It just fit me really well..... This is the virgin shot (besides factory test fire), note the shell in the air.

well its about time.. now yall talking my language i have a ques is there any size difference between the 229 and 228

Lightsped-
Bout time ;)
Now you see what everybody is talking about. Sigs are generally very accurate right out of the box. Go shoot it some more and get her broke in - have fun :D

There is no size difference between the two. You can use the same holsters to carry them. The P229 is slightly heavier (about 2oz) then a P228 due to the solid block slide. Between the two, I like the balance of the P228 a little bit better. If you are thinking of a P229 in 9mm, check out a P228 if you can find one. You might like the balance better also.
Good luck

I never doubted SIGs. I just never got around to firing my P226 for a few years. I have fired my P229 a bit more since that was my first real gun back in the year 2000 or so....

Mike-
You done good :D
Thats a sweet gun. I shoot my P229 DAK in my local ranges IDPA matches. I was shooting it last night to get some practice in before next tuesdays match. I put an 18lb Wolff hammer spring in mine and the trigger lightened up quite a bit. I've got well over 1000 rounds of .40S&W through it without one light primer strike.
Good luck with her and good shootin.

What do you think 1Blindref

...

First, congrats Mike, sweet deal, sweeter gun..

I like some 2-tones, but 1Blindref showed me the way with Coco Bolo wood grips..

Don't ask me why, but I can picture your gun with them, and having a 3-tone gun IMHO, would make that beauty really stand out.

Don't mind me, blame 1Blindref for my addiction.. ;)

Enjoy her, :)

oh, oh, I can join the club now!

Well sign me up, I just picked up a lightly used p220ST for bout $580. Doesn't seem like it's had a lot of shots through it... Though I had to leave the 1911 club, I've joined the Sig one. :D

Did you?

...

Congrats to ya FE1911, as I'm sure you'll enjoy her when you test her out.

I take it since you got the ST used, you did not trade in your 1911 as you were gonna do for a NIB Sig P220?

LS-
I agree - I think she needs some wood :uhoh: :scrutiny:
I like the SAS grips on the two tones. Them or a nice set of Nills :D

Welcome to the Club
First things first - you have to change your name to FullEffect220 :neener:
$580.00 for a P220ST is a smokin deal. I've been seeing some great deals on Sigs lately.
The P220ST is a great shooting gun. The added weight makes it feel more like a 9mm. Good luck with her - post a picture when you get a chance.

post a picture when you get a chance.

I'll try and get a picture in relative short order, I'll see if i can enlist my brother to do the picture taking.

Unfortunately I did have to trade in the 1911, which is a shame because I put some fine parts in it, but I just really got the calling for a 220. I had to trade the 1911 because I just got a Super Blackhawk Hunter a few weeks back and couldn't justify spending that much money in so short a time. What I was thrilled with is that I was going to also part with my 686 and didn't have to. Yesterday was a good day. :D

Then, it's official..

Then it's an official, correct call, by the 1Blindref, who somehow got another call right!! .. :what:

Your name is now FullEffect220.. :D

And for the record, (hard) wood is good for any man's life.. errr, gun :neener:

ROFLMAO :D Good one!

Thanks for the picture.
I'm glad you didn't have to part with your 686.
As much as I love Sigs, I don't think that I would have given up two nice guns (especially a S&W wheelie :D )
for a P220ST. I'm really starting to see some low prices on these. I think the insane price of .45 ammo might have something to do with it.

I have two questions for a relative Sig and pistol noob:

1) What will a Wolff trigger spring do for my stock 229ST?

2) How do you sell a wife on more than one gun. I was able to use the "home protection" route for the purchase of the 229 - but after shooting a .45 over the weekend, I have got to find a way to get a 220ST.

How do you sell a wife on more than one gun.
Most SIG's look alike, so dont tell her.:)

I have multiples of each. Its a "one is none, two is one" thing.

Backup

...

That's it.. ya all need a back-up gun in case of the one guns "possible" failure, AND, you're gonna teach her to use the "BACKUP" gun as well, to double the BAck-up, of each others back..

Whew... :what: now back up to our story..

LS :)

PS.. could use some back-up support responces from others here.. :p

How do you sell a wife on more than one gun.

Do like I do. Tell her you are the man of the house and you will buy whatever you damn well please. :cuss: I have, however, found that this approach should be used only when all escape routes are unencumbered and any other guns in the house are safely locked up and out of reach. Also keep all pets in their crates or in the basement. The last time I laid down the law I tripped over the dog while I was in retreat mode and it nearly cost me my life. Yea ... she knows better than to question my gun purchases.

The current carry/backup gun is her NAA .32 Guardian. I may use the "you can handle the .45 recoil easier than the .40 recoil" excuse. But then she'll probably say I should get rid of the .40. There's no way out of this :banghead:
