Sigs

Thanks :)

I ordered the P225 spring. I dont know what the P6's spring weight is. When I compared the one I removed with the new one, the P6's spring was about a quarter inch longer than the P225's spring.

I'm wondering if the heavy DA trigger wasnt a German police requirement.

I just got my own e-mail address at work so I joined the Sig forum. I didn't before because I am on AOL.

That place used to be busy, it seems kinda dead now. What happened? Did Parabellum run everyone off?

Since this is the Sig club, how many Sigs do you own?

I am up to 13 with 14 expected in any day.

Why do you own so many Sigs? ( someone asked this on Sig forum )

I like the fit and feel of Sig better than any other. I shoot them better. Every time I get a new one I tear it down and I am impressed with their attention to detail. They work every time.

I saw that on the Sig Forum as well.
It's a good question. I'm with you, I shoot Sigs better than alot of the other mfgs. I have some Berettas, Colts, and a Pre-B CZ75 and had two Hks. Sigs just seem to fit me the best. I too like the workmanship of them - more so the W.German stamped slide Sigs. I also like the fact that they (the older ones) are made in Germany. My family is from Germany and I know the pride and craftsmanship that Germans put into their products (my grandfather was a tool maker).
The only gun that comes close to a Sig for me is my CZ75. It shoots just as well as my Sigs.

I'm also up to 13 Sigs :scrutiny: It must be a lucky number :uhoh:

BTW - What is #14 going to be for you??

P6 is in. Made 9/83.

Internals look good, frame is good with little wear. Slide was worn, but I put a little black magic on it an it looks a lot better. Box papers and 2 mags ( one marked Sig one not).

What is with the cut out on the hammer?

Woo Hoo #14.

What is with the cut out on the hammer?
I don't know. I've never read anything on why the cut out is there or what its for.
Woo Hoo #14.
So whats the breakdown of your 14 Sigs and do you have a "family" picture?

I just came from the range. I swapped out the 18lb hammer spring with a 20lb spring. The first 80 rounds were perfect, then I had about 10 light primer strikes out of the last 70 rounds. I'm not going to bother trying a 22lb spring, I don't think the difference will be noticeable. I'm going back to the stock 24lb spring.
I put the 18lb spring in my P225. I had no problems with the first 100 rounds. I had about 5 - 7 light primer strikes in the last 50. I'll probably put the 20lb spring in it and see what happens. If nothing else, I'm getting good at changing hammer springs

What is with the cut out on the hammer?

the cut in the hammer is distinctive of the P6 version on the sig 225. it is a visual indicator it the gun had been dropped on the hammer.

no, i don't know why they would do that either...they must have had a problem...it's info from a thread on the Sigforum from one of our european members.

it's funny, because they didn't make that modification on the P5 or P7...well the P5 anyway, as the P7 doesn't have a hammer

I have not gotten the Sig Pro itch ..... yet.

New President of Sig Arms.. ~ 1Blindref ~

No - I want to be the guy that test fires all of the new Sigs.
Typical day at work would go something like this .....
Get to work with a nice big Wawa coffee (local quicky mart type place with the BEST coffee - I think it has crack in it :scrutiny: ).
Go out to the range and put on your ears and glasses.
Then Heidi (she's dressed and looks kind of like the St. Pauli Girl) wheels out a cart with a bunch of Blue boxes piled high on it.
Then she wheels out a cart with boxes and boxes of .380, 9mm, .40S&W, .357sig, and .45acp and a pile of test targets on it.
You finish up a cart or two and go to lunch.
Come back from lunch and do it all over again till its time to go home :D :D

Remember Norm (Cheers) when he got a job as a beer taster??
That would be the same thing for me!! :)

My only SIG. is a P-220. older model made in West Germany. I think it is kind'a cool haveing a gun made in a country that dos'ent exhist anymore. :)

I agree. I look for the ones that are marked W.Germany. There is a certain cool factor attached to those.

Can I join?

Just bought my first Sig and went with the 226r Elite in 9mm. I replaced the wood grips with the standard factory panels and the grip is perfect. Here's a couple of pictures.

I had my first range trip yesterday and I must admit that I am smittened w/ this gun. The trigger is the best I felt out of the box. The attached picture is from 15 yards away shooting WWB 115gr. The target also shows some groupings for some Speer and Black Hills +p which I'm not the great with. But for my first outting with this pistol, I was impressed.

Also, I took a new shooter out for her first time-my mom! She had a great time and suprisingly liked the full size of the 226. Afterwards, she was checking out the 232 and I think it'll be her first purchase.

Tells ya where I'm at right now. I look at MustangHowie's collection and all I could think was "geez, there's the rest of my downpayment on a house". <sigh>.

I just bought a P228 with a nickel slide. I'm not really into the nickel. Anyone know where I can get a blued slide for it? It appears that Sig sells them for about $330, which is a bit much, IMO. I'm looking for a less expensive option.

Peacemaker-
You're in :) That P226 is a great start. I'm sure you'll be adding to it sooner or later.
I've been trying to get my mom to go shooting with me. I'd like her to get a gun as she lives alone in Philly. Her house was burglarized a few years back. Fortunately she wasn't home at the time. She has an alarm which is a good start, but I'd like her to be able to defend herself as well. Make sure your mom shoots a P230/P232 before she buys one. They are very different from the other "P" series Sigs. If she doesn't like it, you might want to also check out a P239 or a good old wheel gun ;)

Welcome Vito- glad to have you in the Club. I won't ask for any "favors" :p
Sorry you don't like nickel slide - I'd take it ;)
I wouldn't spend that much for a new slide. You can have the slide refinished for alot less. There are a few companys out there that do them. The only one that I've had experience with is CCR, http://www.ccr-refinishing.com/ .
I had my P226 done by them and I'm very happy with how it turned out. I posted the pictures a few pages back.
I've since put about 400 rounds through the gun and have been breaking in a new holster with it. The finish looks just as good as when I got the gun back.
The other option is to register on the Sig Forum and place a "want to buy" add. http://www.sigforum.com/
Good luck!

MustangHowie :what:
Very nice collection :D
I like the custom grips on your GSR. Obviously you must be a Ford Mustang fan :scrutiny:
How do the Sig Pros compare to the "P" series Sigs as far as fit and finish, accuracy, and reliability go?? They must be pretty good since you have a few of them.
P 226 9mm (cdnn pitted)
What do you mean by cdnn pitted??
Last and toughest question-
Which one or two (I know its hard to pick just one) do you like best, and which one do you like least - that is if you had to sell one, which one would it be??

Ford Mustang fan. Yes.http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd143/MustangHowie/099.jpg

CDNN had a bunch of P226s a few tears ago and they tried to make 2 tones out of some of them. When the removed the finnish from the slide it pitted the metal. They sold them cheap. I have never had a problem with mine and it makes a good truck gun. I don't have to worry about scratching it.http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd143/MustangHowie/P226pit.jpg

I love the Sig Pro. I bought the engraved one just for a collector. I liked the feel of it so I bought one to shoot. I liked it so much when I found a used one in 40S&W I traded my Taurus 40S&W in on it. (didn't care for the Taurus) I found a guy with a new 357 Sig bbl that he sold me for $50. I don't know why the Pro is not more popular. Take down is different but it is all Sig. I still want to get the new one in 9mm.

I don't have a favorite one in my collection because I have 4 ( P226 9mm ). I love the P226 in 9mm, any one will do.

I will not sell a Sig, if I have to sell it will be a different brand. Plenty of others to sell first.

New P232 Stainless w/Sig NS and Hoque Grip (new 2007)

Cabella's in Hoffman Estates, IL, today...

The end of the Grand Opening window. Took out the Cabella's Club Visa the first day they opened. Learned that if I charged $500 before today, $100 off. Called on Halloween..., to buy the smallest SIG. "Do you have one in stock?" Yes, it's $849." Please connect me to the Gun Library. What about used. Yes, at another store, LNIB for $700. Called my local gun dealer. We have one for $659 NIB. Go to Cabella's. The 2007 model is in the case for 849. "Can I speak with the Manager?" Yes. Will Cabella's match the 659? "Yes." How did it ring up? 849-200-100+tax. Plus, I had a gift card. BNIB Sig P232 for 549-75=474. SWEET, SWEET!!!
