I am definately set on getting it in .357 because I am planning on getting a new polymer piece in 9mm (to replace my sorely missed 2022). I am with you on the 226 though. That is the gun that hooked me into this sport. It was in 9mm, but I think it would be the perfect platform for .357sig. Nice and substantial to reign in the recoil. I think it'll give my kimber somethin' to think about in the accuracy department.

P229ST range report

I shot 200 rounds through my new (to me) P229ST.
This is the most mild shooting .40S&W chambered gun that I've shot (includes a Beretta 96, Hk USP Compact, Sig P226, P229, and P239 alloy frame, and a Glock 22 )

It ate all 200 rounds without a hitch. The only thing that I will probably change are the sights. This gun has the Sig contrast sights - bar/dot.
I shoot the three dot type night sights slightly better. My IDPA P226 gun has them and I've been primarily shooting that for the last 6 months.

All I can say is this is one great shooting gun!

I shot this target at 10 yards. I shot 3 - 5 shot strings for a total of 15 shots on this target. As you can see I was slightly low with most of the shots. I think it might have been due to the contrast sights.

...

Possibly, some CT grips, as that is what my targets look like using them with (with my 9mm 229) both eyes open.. COM says it all..

Kinda looks like my target today with my 40cal 229 with both sited shots and 2-eyed open point and shoot shot-placements at same mid range distance, except I use those splash-green stickies, and love to seem them splash and get bigger holes in them.. (on my good days, like today.. :) )

I have to save that pic, as once again, photo-shot, with wood frame, target, and gun.. it's a keeper for my PC slide show..:what:

Ya did good.. as did the Sig

Glad I have a Sig P220, but..

...

I really wish I had 2 German Shepherds as it use to always be, but I do love my P220.

Hopefully, since I shoot better with short radius sighted guns (smaller ones) either I will by a used one or a NIB P220 Carry..

OR.. someone might want to trade me, their P220 Carry for my P220 full size, ya never know, that would be even better, far more easier..

I rather have my dog/s back.. this one the most

Come to think about it, I really miss my Horse and other Big German Shepherd I had with him as depicted here

I always wanted to get a sig but every time I see one at a gun show It never feels right in my hand. It seems like the grip is too cylindrical when compared to my 1911s. Also the slide seems to be the width of a small bus. Anyone else feel this way and over come it, only to purchase a sig and love it?

I thought the same thing and then today I shot 50 rounds through a P229 at the range. I am going to buy one. It is an awesome gun.

LOL... I"m waiting for my P226ST to arrive.

Oh the P226ST. Utter perfection in handguns. If funds weren't a little tight right now, I'd get my third and forth.

What caliber?

Mine are in .40 S&W, my girlfriend's is in 9mm. Shooting hers is like shooting a .22.

It was your posts of your GFs gun that made me have to have a P226ST 9mm ;)

I was able to find a NIB 9mm from one of the dealers on the Sig Forum.
I picked it up today at lunch time. I haven't had time to shot it or take pictures of it yet.
Interestingly, the date on the bar code sticker is February 26, 2008.
I thought Sig stopped making the "tail-less rail-less" STs an few years ago :scrutiny:
I'll post some pictures as soon as I clean all of the Sig goo off of her.

My Sig has returned.

I have not had a chance to shoot it yet. I will give Sig credit that they under promise and over delivered on the turn time. Gun was gone for a total of 10 calender days.

They replaced the extractor and polished the feed ramp as a "courtesy". The other comment was the pistol was dry. I think that is really funny. I wiped down the pistol after shooting it so I did not get grease and lube all over me when I was looking at this FTFing pistol.

I did not think I should lube up the pistol again before sending it to Sig. I find the comment on Lube to be condescending. If I ever have to send a pistol back to Sig I will make sure it is covered in grease inside and out dripping on the grips as this one was sent back to me. Also the gun was clearly not cleaned after firing. It is pretty dirty for the 100 round they fired.

They also said the mag they sent with the pistol was dirty. I check it out before firing but did not clean it. I did not notice sand. If I missed it I wonder why A CPO mag was full of sand?

Will post a range report when I shoot it. Fast forward to tonight...

Okay the moment of truth has arrived. I shot my newly returned P220 SAS and it extracted and feed well. The extraction was a little erratic. Brass was not flying 100% predictably but it was extracting.

The feed ramp is noticeably polished. It does not look like they ground it down much but it is smoother.

In the end I am happy to have my pistol back and turntime was very good. I still have some reservations about using this as a self defense gun but I will continuing to shoot it and hope the it continues to function well...

The other comment was the pistol was dry.
I got the same comments from Glock, twice. The gun went back for the same problem twice and was actually well lubed both times, but apparently, not to their satisfaction.

Must be a standard "deflection" tactic taught at customer service schools.

Also the gun was clearly not cleaned after firing. It is pretty dirty for the 100 round they fired.
Hell, most new guns come dirty and I've yet to get one back that was away for repairs from any of them with the gun cleaned.

Now dont go getting all beaming with enthusiasm on us now. Maybe you'll luck out and get a ftf next time. :)

Guns for sale are supposed to be in that forum. Also, read the rules in that forum so that they're met and the thread doesn't get deleted.

Thank you Mr. Camp

...

So, to be clear, does this mean I cannot respond to rellascout's posted SAO P220 for sale for 650 bucks, that I wouldn't buy, because of known issues with said gun, in this Handgun forum, "also", seen here? :

http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=357774

Or, here?: Post #21 and I quote:

I will sell this pistol for $650 shipped to your FFL. P2220 SAS with wood grips. Nite Sights front to back not just front like a standard SAS. Includes 1 8 round & 1 10 round factory nickel mag. Of course box manual and GOT SIG sticker.

I will sell at that price but only under the conditions in the thread I posted.

Seen here in the Handgun forum, "also"

Thank you for your guiding in this matter..

That thread was a joke. It was to prove a point. It was not an actual for sale thread although I apologize because I did field one real offer. Even at basically 45% off it did not fit his budget.

Will not happen again.

Some of us just have the Sig luck/charm..

...

Well, let's consider him lucky then, as I think you should keep this flawed gun and never pass it on to the next unlucky owner, as you have so clearly stated about your flawed P220 and many others P220's.

Except mine, and many others, just keep going and going, trouble free, from shot one, thru 1550 rounds, as I shot another 100 flawless rounds, again, today, at my range, and I'm lovin the fact I can depend on my P220, as it has proved itself time and time, round after round, to me.. It is totally reliable and dependable, that IMO, IS what Sigs are about today, yesterday, and tomorrow.. IMO.

I feel blessed, :)

Now Cut It Out!

This is a very long thread. It's amusing to see just how long it'll go. But some of y'all are about to get it shut doen.

Look: NO MORE ARGUING. NO MORE TROLLING. No more sniping back and forth.
Next person who does so gets his posting privileges revoked, AND all his posts in this thread disappeared. Some of you have hours and hours invested in just this one thread. Do you really want to see all your work go away, AND be banned in the bargain?

I'm going to try to leave the thread open for a while, for the benefit of those -- the majority -- who are playing nice. I suggest the few -- VERY few -- who can't play nice simply stay out of the thread.

It is just this sort of childishness that has cost us some really good staff members. They just couldn't handle being playground monitor to a bunch of second graders. We just lost another one to burnout on Thursday.

Don't test me on this.

My STs collection is complete

My quest for a NIB P226ST 9mm is finally over. I found one from one of the dealers on the Sig Forum. I've seen a few P226ST in .40S&W, but I wanted one in 9mm. This one might become my new IDPA gun.

I thought that Sig stopped making the "tail-less, rail-less" STs a few years back, but you can see from the sticker on the box that this one was made in February 2008.

The dealer told me that Sig is producing a very limited number of the old stlye STs mainly because they are CA. compliant. They come with 10 round mags but the dealer swapped the neutered 10 rounders for the 15 rounders.
I guess the new ST Elites are not

^ Blindref, your SIG family pics are killing me! Jealous and green with envy does not even begin to cover things.

Quick question, what wood grips is that 220ST sporting? Nice.
