Ya know 1BR, maybe you should start, ~ Best PIC ~ of the month, each month, as many of these PICs are just Beautifully done..

Nice. So is the frame stainless steel, also?
Yes, that's what makes the STs different from the regular Sigs. The slide is exactly the same. The frame is steel instead of alloy.
I don't have a scale so I can't tell you the exact difference in weight. What I did notice is that the P226ST feels like it weighs about the same unloaded as my old P226 W.German stamped slide with a fully loaded (15 rounds of 115gr 9mm) magazine in it.

Welcome!
Those are two very beautiful .45s you have there. I really like your pictures. They are awesome! How do you like that GSR??
Thanks for sharing :)

Thanks! I'm no Lunde, but I'm working on taking better pictures. It seems to be all about using a tri-pod and lighting.

I shot the P226ST tonight :D

All I can say is WOW! I wish I would have bought one of these years ago. This has got to be the Holy Grail of 9mms!!

MarcusWendt you are absolutely right about this gun, it feels like a .22
Thanks for getting me hooked on to buying one of these. I always wanted one, but your posts about your GFs, put me over the edge!

I haven't been this excited about a gun in a long time! I can't wait to shoot it again.

I took it apart to clean it after my little range session (only 100 rounds).
The machine work on this gun is excellent. The mill work, fit, and finish, inside and out, is perfect.
This is a top quality Sig, almost too nice to shoot, but too nice not to shoot!

Are older 220s built any better/ worse than newer ones? If so, what serial # is the cutoff point? I'm trying to decide between a new one, and a "new old stock" one. Thanks!

i prefer the older folded/stamped slide models...even though i know they flex more.

when going to stainless, i'd rather the whole gun be stainless...even though i know there might be extractor issues

??? Please elaborate. Why extractor issues?

there is a West German P220 for sale on gunbroker, I think it was in "new old stock" condition

Happiness is..

226

I went to the range today and rented a 226 chamber in 9mm and shoot better with it than my H&K P7:what:

OC,OMG, this is my next purchase when I go to the gun show which is still 3 weks away:banghead:

Can any of you tell me more about the 226 please;)

P226 was developed for the US. They submitted it for the M9 US pistol contract that was won by Berettea (92f/(92FS)

It is a double stack version of the P220/Browning BDA which was also chambered in 9mm.

Originally it came with a stamped carbon steel slide. Older Pistols were mad in Germany. Later they were assembled here.

Newer versions have milled stainless slide with a light rail. These are manufactured here in the US. Exter. NH.

They are great guns as shoot well. They are great combat pistol.

When you say that it shot better than your P7? In what way? I am just interested. The P7 is more accurate due to design IMHO but both are great guns.

New they run about $700 good used pistols can be found for $500

The M9 competition came down to the 226 and the Beretta 92, Beretta won on price.

Thats what I heard too, so the M9, as my friend likes to say, like the space shuttle went to the lowest bidder.

Its o.k. that just means there are more SIGs for us. :)

9mm P226, was supposed to be a back up to my duty gun but this one has a better trigger.

Always happy to share the love. I shoot all .40S&W except for my P228 and I've been thinking about picking up a P226ST in 9mm. Of course my daughter wants one as well now.

1BLINDREF,

So how much for the P226 Stainless? I want one.

Sorry, mine's not for sale. It took me too long to find it and out of all my Sigs, this would be one of the last ones to go.
If you check the Sig Forum classifieds, they pop up every now and then.

There are some really good vendors there that you can contact that will help you find one.

http://getffl.com/Able-Company-Sports-Llc.htm This is where I got mine. Mike is good people!
[email protected] Ted is very good.
http://www.scpfirearms.com/ Steve is excellent to deal with.
http://www.topgunsupply.com/ Tom and Michelle are carrying guns now.

Those links you listed, are they good for getting a quality used P229 40cal non-railed?

I was at my gun store yesterday, and they had 3 NIB P229R 40cals, and I almost, almost, put some money down on one, but IF I can get a very good used one, and save some money, that would be my first choice..

Also, when I told them I wanted a non-railed one, they seemed to think they still made them (NIB) in DA/SA, not just the DAK model.. any thoughts on that?

Any help is appreciated..
