Previously I thought the best way to fix a broken classic Mora plastic sheath was to buy a new knife and voila - you get a new sheath! But I done one better.

For the classic Mora fans, I present my tool-free, 25 cent Mora belt hanger sheath fix. It takes just a 3 1/4" x 1" rectangle of leather, a sharp knife, and about 10 minutes to make!

Lest you wonder, it's on there tight. I tied the "wing strips" tight around the sheath 2/3's the way up, then inched it up the rest of the way. Then after a couple days of stretching I untied it and repeated the process.

It's tied on. That's why it's tool free. :)

I just cut off my Mora #1 sheath, I like this simple leather belt loop so much. On this one, I did two loops for extra security, cuz this sheath doesn't have as big a lip at the top.

Here's a pic of the #2 on the belt:

Here's a diagram of how I made the cuts. This is chrome tanned, stiff leather, FYI. Almost feels like raw hide.

Fixing this sheath was on my mind for the longest time. It was frustrating cuz there's no adhesive that I know of that permanently sticks to this kind of plastic. I originally tried something with paracord, but it would slide off in the wrong direction. Leather and plastic seems to make a good match!
