After a quick 3 week wait after placing my order, I recently received a new Sourdough Pancake holster from Rob Leahy at Simply Rugged for my .44 special New Vaquero.

So far I am exceedingly impressed and satisfied with this holster. This must be the highest quality leather item I've personally owned. The fit for the gun is perfect. Retention is excellent.

I haven't purchased a quality gun belt yet, but even with my 10 year old Walmart leather belt, the gun holds comfortably high and tight. I was amazed at how easy it is to conceal my Vaquero OWB strong side using this. Even under just an untucked flannel shirt, the only time you'd know something was there is when I bend way over. I did also get Rob's detachable IWB straps, but I don't anticipate having much of a desire to use them.

I find this holster/gun combo more comfortable to sit down with than I expected. I am currently about 6 ft and 245 lbs, so I have some love handle issues going on. Even so, carrying strong side and sitting in a car, while I do feel the grip sort of digging into my side (ie love handles) a bit - it's not bad at all, and when I get out of the car, I don't find any need to adjust the holster. When worn crossdraw, it's even less of an issue at all. As I continue to lose weight, the holster will be even more comfortable, I am sure.

As I know there have been a few "who carries an SA revolver?" threads popping up recently, I'll include some pics later with the holster worn to give any interested folks an idea of just how well this thing conceals this gun. I know there aren't many pics out there of folks demonstrating their SA revolver carry methods, so I hope to help remedy that a bit.

As it stands now, I highly suggest Simply Rugged to anyone looking for a good CC revolver holster.

I'm all over that next paycheck. I recently got the same gun in blue steel, and Rob is just the guy to make some leather for it. I shot the sheriff today (apologies to Bob Marley); what a great revolver.

Thanks a ton for the pics!

Here are some pics of the holster worn. As you can see, not difficult to conceal with minimal effort - at least if you're my size. This is with a $12 Faded Glory work belt from Walmart, which I honestly have no immediate intentions of replacing. It carries pretty comfortably.

The below is carried crossdraw under a light vest. I typically wouldn't wear just a sleeveless shirt under a vest... but it's just to demonstrate. ;) Oh, and don't adjust your monitors - I'm a lefty.
