Are Singer 1911s really worth that much? I passed on one at $5k last year.

$5K for an authentic Singer is a steal. $52K strikes me as high, but I haven't followed that market closely. I'd expect $35-40K.

why would that 1911 be worth so much?? whats the special story that goes with it?

Singer only made 500 of them. Caveat Emptor....it's been said that of the original 500 only 2000 are left.

A post on the 1911 usgi forum said it sold at auction 3 years ago for $40,000. Also said the seller's condition rating is inflated.
