This article... is this guy a crock of nonsense, or does he actually have some good points besides pulling stuff outta his rear to attempt to cover his want to carry something ? If I want to carry a certain firearm.... that's all that matters. I don't have to justify anything. "I want to." is all the justification you need. Anyways, some of his ideas seem spot on (shot placement). Others seem.... shady.

"who taught the U.S. Army the Quick Kill instinct shooting method during the Vietnam War."

Again, he should've just stopped at "kinda I want to". There were men who carried their personal Ruger Super Blackhawks in Vietnam... because they wanted to. It's a personal choice, not something you have to justify.

I won't argue with the man who carries a single action for defense. The article didn't do anything to support that opinion, though.

While I don't CCW a single action, if I did, I would argue that with enough training it is as fast and powerful as any other gun and that a CCW holder is statistically unlikely to need more than five rounds or to reload during the fight. Those are not airtight arguments, but they make more sense to me than anything written in the linked article.

I was unaware that the Colt SAA was the most intimidating pistol in the world today.

I suspect that is a typo. Besides spelling Paterson incorrectly, I suspect what he meant to write was "the most imitated pistol in the world today", which is probably true.

I love the single action, but I have to admit my attention wandered before I could finish. His suggestion that a double action revolver couldn't be fired accurately and fast was more than a touch naive.

I did look at this pictures, though, especially the one with the secret grip. If you're pressing the web of your hand into the back of the hammer, you're not going to hit much except at the very closest ranges. If your sight picture is good, your trigger pull is good, and your groups are going wild, check that web of the hand against the tip of the hammer. Unless you've found a way to do it with perfect consistency, it's going to throw you off.

If there's a secret to the single action it's years of practice and thousands of rounds, but that may not be much of a secret.

I don't know what this guy's day job is, but he needs to go back to it.
The article reads like a Jr High Schooler's research paper, regurgitating facts that were gleaned from Wikipedia.
Well the SAA Colt is a revolver and not a pistol, and the .50 Desert Eagle is even more intimidating. However why in Hell would anyone carry one outside hunting I have not clue.

SAA for concealed carry? No thanks! Barbecue gun or hunting arm sure, just not for CC. But it worked for years so it’s not worthless, it’s just obsolete in that role.

Careful there, Sir! You are about to tread on my toes! I happen to carry a Single Action, though not a Colt, for everyday social use. I've developed my own draw- and -fire technique and seem rather adept with it. Used it for nothing more exciting that a few cottonmouths, once a trio of them. I do not believe I could have gotten off those three shots any faster, accurately, even with a .45 Auto.

Would you do me the honor of regaling me/us (mainly me) with your draw/fire technique ? I am interested in packing a Vaquero for everyday... social work....

I trying to find the exact works to quote them. but he does mention that few if any men can shoot a double action revolver arrcurtly... I sure as Hell did, at 25 yards...
