Finally found a nice, three-screw Ruger Single Six for a reasonable price that hadn't spent its former life as a makeshift tackhammer or door stop. The gun has fixed sights, a 5.5" barrel and, according to the manufacturer, was shipped in August, 1967. Pretty neat.

The only wrinkle is that it's had the factory transfer-bar conversion. Does anyone know which parts I need to retrofit it back to its four-click, "five-up carry only" glory?

Thanks.

Just a few small parts, that'll cost around $125+/- iwhen you find 'em. I'd only say that as it sounds like yours is a bit of a "worn" specimin, such parts won't bring back any collectability and since it's already been altered a bit less as a shooter even.
They do appear occasionally on Gunbroker or just check shops/shows.

Thanks BlkHawk. Honestly, though, the one I've found is almost new looking--not even a turn line. I figured that the condition might make it worth retrofitting.

Finding parts could be a problem. You will need at least the following:

Hammer
Trigger
Cylinder base pin
Hand
Cylinder latch (aka "bolt")
Cylinder latch spring.

These would be difficult to find used, and next to impossible to find new.

You could try: www.e-gunparts.com

Ok, if it's in very good condition it would be worth re-converting. Still though, it's been done. One can tell too. I know my brother has a set, maybe two but with four gunshows coming up this month and being at a huge one right now, his set is likely gone already.
I'll check though and PM if he still has it.

That would be awesome. I just got that gun home yesterday and it is as close to new as you can get for a 41 year-old gun.

I would call Numrich. The parts are different pre and post 1973, but some of the names are the same. If you tell them exactly what you need, a lot of time they might have it. Those guys are good.

Keep in mind that a lot of the parts Numrich has are not new, but were removed from guns that for whatever reason were stripped and then scraped.

This is not ment to be a slam against Numrich/The Gunparts Corp., just a heads-up so you won't be disappointed.

Sometimes used parts are the only ones that are available.
