The old style Single Six has just the rear windage adjustment and the new Super Single Six has both the windage and distance adjustment. My question is does it matter that much to have the new style pistol when your only shooting at distances of about 50 yds. with a 22 lr. I am thinking about getting one and a guy has a good deal on a old style Single Six. What are your thoughts on this type of pistol????

Both are good. From my perspective, the adjustable sights present an advantage. I certainly wouldn't let fixed sights get in the way of a good deal, though.

As addicting as they are, I'll bet it's only a matter of time before you have more that one, anyhoo.

The Single Six usually comes with 2 cylinders - 1 for .22 R.F. and the other for .22 WRM. These cartridges often shoot to different points of impact. In any dual-cylinder revolver adjustable sights are a positive plus.

+1 Old Fuff

I have a SS, they do come with two cylinders, and do shoot to different POA.
The adjustable sights are a boon.

Once you figure out where the gun shoots with each round you can simply adjust your hold and be fine, although I simply prefer the better sight picture I get from adjustables.

Single Sixes are great guns and one of the true values in Handguns today. I'd go with the one you like best as I doubt there's a shortage of them out there.

I just picked up a new one last week, I'll never understand why I ever get rid of them as they are such great guns.

Only matters if you want to hit to the point of aim using conventional sight alingment. I like to aim my Single Six the same way ( 6 o'clock hold with front sight even with rear sight blade) regardless of the range I am shooting at. The adjustable sights allow that. As mentioned above those with dual 22lr/22mag cylinders make the adjustable sights that much more desirable.
