Anyone have both and can describe/post pics to compare sizing of the S&W M&P9c vs what your typical 2" barrel J frame looks like? I'd much rather have 12+1 vs 5, but if it is really that much smaller I am curious.

Thanks!

I don't have either, but I would think the M&P is quite a bit thicker over all. I'm not much of a revolver guy, but the M&Pc is probably going to be the next gun I buy.

You may want to take a look at the Walther PPS. I think it comes closer to matching the size of a J frame. You get 6+1 with the smallest mag, but you can reload faster than with a revolver.

I have had both and honestly if you can carry the snub you can, and should be carrying the M&P. I didn't find any advantage at all to the snubby in fact I sold my snubbies in favor of carrying my M&P. If the situation dictates a smaller weapon the snubby really isn't smaller enough to fit the bill. For those occasions I carry my LCP. BTW I carry my M&P under a t-shirt with a spare mag in the summer with only a t-shirt. It is a little thick in the slide but it conceals very well with a good holster.
Also there is NO comparison in shootability between the two. NO ONE is going to outshoot me with a snub nose 38 when I have my M&P.

I also have both (a 642 and M&P9c), and there is enough of a difference between the two in size to make them both worthwhile to carry in different manners.

The 642 would be great for pocket or ankle carry, and can easily be handled IWB. The M&Pc is very good IWB or OWB. The main advantage the j-frame has is the 'fluid' shape that makes it easier to conceal. But as mentioned, the M&P trumps the j-frame in capacity and ease of shooting.

Jon,

What kind of holster are you using for your M&P, I am looking for a good iwb and maybe a belt model outside?? I have the compact model also shoots great.

Thanks
Bob

The best holster I've tried is the Peters Custom Hosters IWB holster but I haven't been able to get ahold of Greg Peters for several weeks so I don't know whats going on there. I have a review of it posted around here somewhere. I would recommend a Raven Phantom holster as a compareable rig. I'm ordering one for my P7 soon. Usually I carry OWB in the winter but with the Peters holster I've stayed IWB all winter. I've also tried UBGs IWB and a Comptac C-Tac. I didn't like either of them as much as the Peters holster. That would be my first choice if you can get a hold of him. I haven't tried his phone # to be fair.

For the longest time my BUG gun has been a Taurus 651SS (shrouded hammer), 5 shot, 357 mag, w/ CT laser grips.
Recently I purchased a M&P 9mm and liked to SO much I decided to get a M&P 9c as a BUG gun.
Both my BUG's have their own Cross Breed Holster and they can swap the use of a Smart Carry holster.
I REALLY like the 9c better, it's lighter and has 13 rounds vs 5 rounds.
