Just picked up a SKS Serial number on bolt 261xx and left side of receiver
C64XXGE In tiny print on Left side of receiver China Norinco sporter B-West Tuc.AZ
Anybody have any info. on this rifle. I only gave a couple of hundred for it. It's my first one and no really nothing about the SKS, other then never sharpen the bayonet.

Sounds like a Chinese Norinco Sporter to me.

Does it have the bayonet? If it does, is it a spike?

Does it take AK mags?

Does it have the thumbhole stock?

Yes there is a Triangle I did not notice it at first. Put my glasses on and it has what appears to be an arrow pointing up inside the triangle. No thumbhole stock, blade bayonet not spike. Forgot the check the Ak mag thing.

Your Norinco is stamped the same as my 1959 Norinco. Mine is a triangle-26 which indicates the factory, in this case the original one set up by the Russians. Only with this factory can you be sure of the date of manufacture based on the serial number. If you go to the linked SkS board you can get an idea of when and certainly where your rifle was made. whether it is made for a blade or bayonet is a good clue as to when, to a degree. Go to the SkS board and there is much to be learned.

also, the sporter in the stamp does not necessarily mean that your rifle was a thumbhole sporter as the designation was generally used for political reasons. Enjoy as Norincos are nice.
