i've had an sks for some 15years i've plinked with it and so forth very reliable fun rifle to shoot its the model with the shorter barrel.any i got curious as to when and where the rifle was made and now i'm stumped. all the sks history websites i've found mostly show a funny looking triangle mine has no triangle then a funny symbol the a 4 digit serial number. mine has CHINA stamped on the side of the reciever, it does have matching serial numbers they all have a funny looking symbol C4485 (C is the closest letter 2 the symbol before the serial number) just wondering if anybody could help me with my research

While I'm still somewhat new to SKS's, I found a lot of great info on these two sites.
http://www.yooperj.com/ great wealth of info on the more common SKS's
http://www.sksboards.com/smf/index.php I've used the search function on this site to find a lot out about my /636\ SKS. I've also asked a few questions/private messaged people whom I found thru the search and had great results with people getting back to me on my questions.

If I'm remembering correctly, the triangle marking is a Chinese military arsenal mark? Being stamped "China" but no military mark makes it a Norinco?

Just enjoy your little shooter. Have had an SKS for a "truck gun" for several yrs. Have an "M" now and parked my "bubba'd" one. Cannot beat them for reliability and toughness.

That's definitely a Norinco. No question. I've got at least 10,000 rounds through mine, and it's still shootin' great.

that's for all the input guys. i had no idea it was a norinco....now i know!its ate some where around 1k of cheap norinco ammo never missed a beat either!
