Some Clairifacation is due here.

I live one block from the the Ohio Turnpike and a major US Hwy runs through my front yard. We have had chemical spills here in the past and was forced to leave for a period of time. If I was not home at time of spill and was not allowed to return home, I would have the SKS in my truck along with my bug out bag that I carry every day.

If any riffle is locked in a case, unloaded. Including any magazines then the the riffle would be with in the law of Ohio. Just keep ammo in different pouch for handness.

My intent is not to use the riffle as a ccw. I carry a 1911 for that. I was thinking more on the lines of SHTF. An added item to my bug out gear.

I have been forced to bug out a few times for different reasons. Weather related mulitible times, chem spills, 911. So I know what that is like.

I carry a platic tote in the bed of my truck that has a cap that locks. This tote contains my B.O.B. a small tent, and some basic camping items. The SKS just bacame part of that gear. I feel more secure from theft by having it in the cab. I think I will cable lock the case to the seat brackets to help prevent any easy grabs form window breakers and cover the case with an old blanket or coat.

If my truck gets stolen then I have lost way more then just a $100 riffle. my B.O.B. is well over $600 bucks not to mention the 4x4 truck its self.

Like I said before. My truck is truely aways just feet from me. I never leave it sitting in places of hi risk. I never leave it behind because it contains everything that I might need.

Probably not legal there either:

ORC 2923.11 (C) “Handgun” means any of the following:

(1) Any firearm that has a short stock and is designed to be held and fired by the use of a single hand;

Concealed carry licenses are good for handguns only.
The Draco is marketed as a handgun, and federally considered a handgun. Any handgun laws apply to the draco. It is designed to be fired with one hand only. They're about $400 bucks, and with a holographic sight, one great gun. I'd recommend the composite furniture from ATI.

I have no problem with truck guns. I always have a CCW of one caliber or another. and usually have two guns in my truck when I am in it, two pistols, pistol and rifle, etc. I have a "new" to me 336 in 30-30 that is usually in the truck. It is usually behind the seat. I mant to buy or make a headliner rack for it. Either buy one of the Shelf-it overhead units, or make one that is a little less obvious. This makes it more readily accessible, and if I make it right, more concealable and lockable.

This is all legal in MO.

I think firing it with one hand is a bit of a stretch. It may be possible, but would be much more practical and stable to use your support hand on the forend. Mainly they are classified as handguns (and have no butt stock to qualify as one) so folks who want shorty EBGs can have them without bothering with all the idiotic NFA red tape.

At any rate, even though the Feds consider the Draco a handgun, that doesn't mean that all state laws agree. Ohio is one of them. They also consider a semi-auto centerfire with a 31 or more round magazine a machine gun.
