I have put an after market black composite folding stock on my Norinco. It all went pretty smooth, except for the gas tube handguard removal and swap. I can't seem to get the pin out to switch handguards. I have put the gas tube in a vise and tried to take out the pin with a punch, but you can't get too aggressive with a hammer and vise for fear of damaging the gas tube. Anyone have any tips? I have thought about drilling this pin out and just replacing the pin, any thoughts? Thanks

Just got a tapco t6 for my SKS, had the same problem

Pin wouldn't come out, bent 3 punches and a screwdriver trying to get it out.

Clamp the hand guard in a vice (or even better to a drill press table if you have one) and get a good drill bit and drill out the ONLY the very top of the pin on each side. you don't wanna go too deep and get into the metal on the gas tube.

Once you drill each side you should be able to dive the pin out... wish i had taken step by step pics when i did mine to show you.

you can get replacement pins from Tapco that can be compressed into fit.

Good luck, you should be fine, it wasn't a very difficult mod

That "pin" is actually a rivet. Drilling it out is the only option that doesn't risk damaging the gas tube.
