Once in a while you discover something that exceeds all your expectations. Well heres a real sleeper. I picked up an old Interarms imported Firestar M-43 9mm pistol. Almost sub-compact in size, all steel (weighs a ton!) single action semi-auto. I found the pistol utterly reliable with Federal 115 gr. hollow points. Very accurate, good trigger and best of all, very little recoil. Heres a very compact 9mm that can be fired a 100 rounds at the range and you still enjoy it. I checked Gunsamerica and found they are selling for $400-$450. Thats a lot of money for a discontinued, very compact, almost Keltec/Ruger sized pistol. I understand why now. It's pretty amazing. I don't know of any compact pistol that comes close in size, ease, comfort in shooting. Real adjustable sights, good ergos, all steel, accurate, reliable and very very comfortable to shoot. Why do all the good things stop being made? These things are real sleepers. At least this one is.

I came ever-so-close to one in .45acp a while ago for a decent price but slept on it and decided against it due to the weight. Sometimes I wish I didn't sleep so much those days.

If one comes my way again in both good shape and good price, I'm rather certain I'd buy.

I've only heard good things about the Firestar.

I would put my recently acquired Star 30M in the same category.

A range I used to shoot at pretty often had a Star Firestar that I rented a few times, it's a fun little gun for sure. I never had any issues with shooting their rental gun, it seemed to hold up pretty well.

I have one in .40, with Starvel finish. It always fires, and though I early came to the conclusion that it wasn't accurate recently I shot it from a rest and changed my mind, it's very accurate. It is heavy, but sure is compact.

I never met a Star firearm that I didn't like.

Yeah, Star seems to get painted with the same brush as other Spanish firearms, many of them less than stellar.

My friend has one in .40 and it is a really good shooting gun. We shot it yesterday. Really well built with lots of features.

I recently bought one from a buddy NIB...I've put about 300 rounds through it without a hitch. It's the Firestar Plus 9mm with the Starvel finish. An excellent shooter and very well made.
