Friend of mine just bought a kimber Custom II 5" 1911. Calls me on the phone, says he's removed the cylinder spring plug, removed the spring, removed the slide stop...the slide is all the way to the rear, and won't move. The full length guide rod moves easily (rattles around)

<p>
Anything immediately come to mind?

Sounds like the barrel link is binding. You might have him try inserting a small screwdriver tip inside the slide stop hole and try moving the link real easy.

Make sure he is not holding onto the grip safety. The grip safety will push the Series II plunger into the slide binding it up. If the plunger is sticking push it down with a ball point pen, hold the grips by the sides and pull the slide forward.

I had a similar thing happen with a KCII. The plunger sometimes binds on the slide when they are new making it impossible to move forward.

Thanx guys- mag was out AFAIK, but the grip safety thing is a good tip- as is the link thingie. (that's a technical term!)

Thanks for the help, I let you know what we figure out.

Hi guys- yup- the link had bound up- my friend was able to wiggle it loose, and we went out and burned up some rounds yesterday!! Nice gun.

Thanx for the help!
