I don't know if this the place to post this or not. Anyways I just finished cleaning my P91 Got it all back together and cycled it through with some dummy rounds and and it cycled just fine. laid it down and cleaned my AR when finished I tried out the pistol and now the slide wont slide back all the way.I am not able to slide it back far enough to breakdown again. Any Ideas on how to remedy this problem

Can you provide any more information such as how far back is the slide going? Does the guide rod look straight? Is it a DC, DAO, or standard model? Does it go back far enough to lock the hammer back and does it release normally when pulling the trigger or decocking? How detailed of a cleaning--field strip or did you remove the firing pin block? etc.... Pictures may help too.

My first thought would be the guide rod somehow popped out of its place against the barrel link. Depending on how far back you can bring the slide, you might be able to see this looking down into the ejection port.

You may also need to try the Ruger Forums to see if anyone has had the same issue.

Sorry It is a P91DC and the slide will go 3/4's of the way back and it does lock the hammer back and the the dc and hammer work just fine. Looks straight. I will get some pictures in a bit. Just a field strip didn't take the firing pin block out. Just brought it home from the range and gave a good cleaning.

Do you have a magazine in it or does it make a difference? The slide could be catching on the magazine if it is. And, it shouldn't really matter, but is the ejector back up after you put it back together? Did you cycle the dummy rounds all from a magazine?

Does the trigger still drop the hammer? I was thinking if you move the slide back as far as you can, pull the trigger and you should be able to see the transfer bar move underneath the slide stop.

You have to push the ejector down when reassembling and push it back up when complete. If it is not that then the take down pin was lined up wrong during reassembly.

Yes the ejector was back in place when I inserted the mag. Yes cycled from a mag I was just reading another forum and it could be that my recoil spring is on backwards. I got the ejector pulled down through the mag well with a dental pic so I could try the disassemble it. But I can't get it back far enough to get the slide stop lever pulled out. I guess I am going have to take it to a smithy.

I turned my spring around, and the action is rougher, but I'm still able to cycle it all the way and disassemble it again. I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to cycle the slide all the way unless the spring is binding on something.

You might be able to go in at the front of the trigger and move things around. Holding the pistol upside down and looking down, you should be able to see the slide stop pin running through the barrel link at the front of the trigger.

Beyond that, I'm not sure what else to tell you. You might be able to get help from Ruger, but I don't know how much they'd do over the phone for a discontinued model.

Good luck and post your results.

Thank you for your time I appreciate it. I am just going to take into the local smithy and see what he can do. I will post what he finds out and does to fix it Have a great evening and thank you again

Don't have to pull the slide back that far to get the pin out. IS the locking pin/slide stop coming out? I don't see where you mentioned that. Also the guide rod sometimes jumps off track when reassembling. IF you can't get it back far enough to get the take down lever/slide stop out then you may have to take it to someone.

Here's a video on how to break it down incase your missing a step or something it might help. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gK2-ZvWZ3cY

Well I found out the problem and I am waiting the part. Some how I bent the blocker lever when reassembling and it was catching on the slide Thanks again y'alls for help
