I don't think anyone will bother you out in Elbert County.
Pretty much. There are a lot of real registered machine guns out here anyway, so hearing something that sounds like FA really doesn't cause any alarm. In fact, it seems like every time we go shooting on a nice day, the neighbors in all directions decide it's a good idea and chime in!
Our sheriff is a good guy, too. He is very professional, and will deal with law breakers, but he does not harass people who are doing nothing wrong. He also understands gun laws at a level that few LEOs I've encountered do. Kinda goes with the territory, though, when you're chief LEO in a county that has about 90% gun ownership among residents and probably a 10:1 or higher gun : person ratio.
The only thing they really hound residents for out here are things that present a fire danger; it's so dry out here, and always windy, that a tiny fire can get out of hand in a heartbeat. You absolutely pull a permit for burning, or you will be ticketed if they see it. And fireworks that leave the ground are a big time no-no. If memory serves, we've actually had a complete fireworks ban the last 3 years. The danger is just too high.
