Is there an easy way to remove to front sling swivel on an AR-15? I have a side mounted one I use for my sling and the front one gets in the way of my light/laser some. Best idea I had is to start drilling but I was hoping there was a better way...

Thanks!

What handguard or free float tube do you have? It might be just a nut/bolt. Mine was.

I say leave it if you can. I covered mine in 100 mph tape to silence the rattle. It clears my light and that way if my side sling adapter ever goes TU I can adjust on the fly to the stock sling swivel.

It doesn’t take much drilling. Use as light a tool as possible so that you can control it easily. I used a dremmel tool. Use some light oil as you drill and just begin removing a little metal at a time. When You are almost there use a punch and pop it out. I never even touched the metal on my gun. It shouldn’t take you more that a couple minutes.

I've done three with a punch and brass hammer. A couple of careful, yet strong, whacks and it pops right out. I've never had to resort to drilling anything.

The fun part is trying to replace a roll pin with a rivet to hold the sling mount on, without having a rivet tool. That can also be done but it takes patience, and a small bag of rivets. Being concerned with "correctness" can be all consuming if you let it.:p

A 3/32" punch and hammer will pop the rivet right out.
You drive the rivet out from the dimpled side, not the domed side.HTH
