Does anybody make a quick release sling swivel stud that mounts on an AR front sight base where the nondetachable sling swivel normally goes? I've seen the side mounts, but I'm curious if what I described even exists.

I'm not sure what you are asking... What would be the point of putting the side mount sling swivel in that particular place?

Maybe if you can answer that, it will help me understand what you are saying...

Sounds to me like he wants to replace the standard front sling swivel with a quick-detach sling swivel stud, not a side mount.

OK thanks.

Once again though, what would be the point of having it as a QD? and why would you not want it as a side swivel while you're at it?

It was just a thought. The rifle's going to be somewhat retro (20" with A1 walnut furniture) and I'll want a sling. As I said, I'm aware of the side mounts; I'm just poking around to see if what I was thinking of exists.

Gotcha.

I am not aware of any such mounts, but in this case, if you get the right sling, it shouldn't matter anyways.

KNS makes a rear QD mount, one of which I have and will be using on this rifle, but their only front QD stud mounts to the handguard.

Thanks, though.

I'm pretty sure bravocompanyusa.com has what you want. I've gone one on my Bushy M4 and it works fine. The sling has a pushbutton QD and the end of it goes into a socket on the FSB.

I don't see the exact one I'm using on there now but there are other options:

If I was doing it all over again I'd probably have a FF quad rail tube and use one of the side mounts that connect to the pictanny (spelling?) rail as I think it's a better solution. On mine the socket for the front sling "socket" fits in the air gap under the front sight post.

Have a good one,
Dave
