CougarRed,
Correction on Kahr weights from Kahr web site.

PM9 is 14 oz + 1.9 oz empty mag = 15.9 total
PM40 is 15 oz + 1.9 oz mag = 16.9 total
I took the figures from the Kahr catalog, which has different numbers than the web site. The catalog has:
PM9 14.8 oz. + magazine 1.9 oz. = 16.7 oz.
PM40 16 oz. + magazine 1.9 oz. = 18.5 oz.

I am using the higher numbers because of Kahr's misleading specification on the overall length. Their error on the overall length tended toward a smaller number, so I assume the weight difference is toward lighter as well.

Even so, the PM40 numbers on my chart were in error. I have corrected them. Thanks for the good catch! Unfortunately they are higher than originally posted.

ABBOBERG,
I think it is interesting that Kahr is "under" in their weights and sizes on their web site (like the PM9 listed as 5.3" long when it is actually 5.62" long).
It seems suspicious to me. Especially when all the "errors" seem to be in their favor.

halvey,
Is there a reason why the R9 can't shoot +p loads? It's the only thing keeping me from getting one.
I believe it is the smallest 9mm auto available. A pistol that small may not be able to withstand the extra pressure of a +P or +P+ load.

Brian Williams,
The only thing that would make this chart better would be to have a rectangle superimposed showing the thickness of the gun
Otherwise this is fantastic.
I'm not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean a top view (bird's-eye view) photo of each gun with a rectangle superimposed over it? Or do you mean just a rectangle superimposed over the side view that is there now?

For those of us who like old stuff a chart of old guns would be a cool reference.
I agree it would be fun. Can you imagine the size of it though? You're talking thousands of guns!

New table added with a few SAAMI pressure specs.
The changes will be up in a few minutes.

Kahr MK9 or MK40 which is what I have. They are heavy. I used to carry a Kel-Tec P3AT. It is a .380 and weighs in at about 10 ounces. Can't beat it. Mine has never had a problem. I used to carry it in my front pocket. I had to wear dress pants and tucked in shirt so this worked great. Some say the .380 is too small for self defense. To those I say, would you like to be shot with one (more than one bullet)?

I like the MK40 alot. I have a nice IWB holster and it has become my carry weapon of choice when I can get away with it. Sometimes circumstances require the lighter, slimmer Kel-Tec.

I wouldn't want to get shot by a BB gun either, therefore, with your logic, a BB gun is good for self defense.

I suspect if you had your choice, you'd rather be shot by a BB than a .380 though right? It is a matter of the biggest you are willing and able t carry. Besides, Red Ryders won't fit in the 4 inch square.

You are asking someone with reason that question. But see if a hopped up gang banger cares. You could point a cannon at these guys and they wouldn't flinch. Point is, you better have enough gun to put them down.

But, whatever, its your life.

pls dont fight guys! this thread is going to well for it to turn into a flame war! :D

*edit* everything looks great on the chart! the only suggestion is something i have no idea how you woudl fix. Everythign on it is perfectly lined up, and sized, and seems professional in every aspect. I mean if you sold a large printout i would hang it up on my wall!

but the hand simulation looks like you let your little sister go happy on MS-paint!

like i said you have that there for comparison which is the reason you made the chart, so i guess all is good :)

Truly outstanding work. Just one more comment:

Under the 9mm column, under Kahr 9mm, second paragraph re the MK series, you should probably update to add the new model MK9093-BOX, with stainless frame and matte black slide, with MSRP of $475, significantly less than the MSRP of the 2 other MKs: http://www.kahr.com/front.html

Omni04,

I'm not sure what you mean by this.
The purpose of the "ghost" hand is to show how the pistol fits in your hand. I.e., how many fingers will fit on the grip; how much room there is for your trigger finger; how long the reach is; etc.

If you can suggest an improvement that is practical I'll be happy to try it.

Done! Thanks for the suggestion.

bobo, like i said in my post, i had no suggestions on how to improve of it. I was merley stating how unaesthetic the "glove" was in relevance to the rest of the picture.

i was just pointing out something i noticed.

Wow. Just wow.

Seriously nice job. And wow.

So next year its the 6"-8" autos, right? Please?

Did you make your decision yet Bobo? (sorry if you posted about this already but i got to page 5 and had to go back to work, but decided to congradulate before i left.)

Mr Jody Hudson and TheStook,

Thanks for the "thanks".
Yes I've finally made a decision. The .380 NAA Guardian. It's not the "perfect" gun -- there is no such thing, but it has the most of what I want for my intended purpose.

Well i am glad you found one..... but how does it shoot? Cycle clean, easy to hold?

just a suggestion, BOBO -- i'd combine the stats & photo of the guardian 380 and 32 naa since they are virtually identical, rather than take up an entire row for one gun....would allow the entire chart to be viewed larger

DaleJunior,

Good insight!

The column for .32 NAA is kind of a waste of space since the Guardian is the only pistol made for that round at this time, and may be the only pistol ever made for that round since no one else seems interested in designing pistols for that caliber since its inception about a year ago.

On the other hand, if I remove that column as you suggested it will reduce the width but not the height of the chart. As it stands now, the height is what is keeping the chart so large if printed on an 8-1/2" x 11" sheet.
