Does anyone know some good smaller framed 9mm autos? But when I mean small frame, I don't mean compacts with a stubby grip. I mean something like the Walther P22. It has the look and feel of a full size auto, it's just smaller, and in .22lr. Well I'm looking for something similar, just in 9mm. And also, preferably something that doesn't look like a Walther PPK.

Oh yeah, no Glocks :)

I do like the Kahr K series, but they're all DAO :(

check out the kahr line up they are awesome, little guns, they cost a little bit more than the other brands, but they are reliable beyond belief and they shoot great. check out the k9 elite series they are really nice looking and nice shooters.

I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier, but the Walther P99 Compact is very similar dimensions as the P22, but in 9mm or .40

Like everyone above, the CZ 75 PCR/P-01/Compact, Sig 239, or Glock 19.

I've had a 239 and P-01. I still have the P-01. I've shot the G19, and it feels exactly like the Glock 17 in my hands, there's plenty of room on the grip.

I have a Glock 19 that I love. It goes bang every time no matter what. BUT, for me it is not easy to conceal. I don't do IWB and it is a little big for ankle or pocket.

I recently bought a Kahr PM9. It is a pretty good gun. I was skeptical at first but after putting 200 rounds through it on my first trip to the range with no problems/jams/etc, I have changed my mind. A very nice gun and it will be my carry piece.

As for not too stubby, the grip on the PM9 is short and you can only get two fingers on it. Pearce makes some grip extenders that help but don't make the gun that much bigger. Or you could look at some of the other slightly bigger Kahrs. I think it is the thickness (or lack there of) that makes the Kahrs so attractive. Close to a 1/4 inch thinner than a Glock.

The Walther P22 has the perfect dimensions for CCW IMO. It's only 6 inches long total, 4.5 inches tall, and .9 inches wide. But it still looks like a full size gun, just shrunk. Guns like the XD subcompact, and even the Walther P99Compact look kinda goofy to me. The grip is really short and stubby and the frame looks over-sized. I know, I know, looks aren't really at the top of the list when you're picking a tool to defend your life. But if I can, I would like to find a pistol that is the same proportions as a full size, just smaller. The closest I can see so far is the Kahr P9. But that is DAO. The Taurus Millennium Pro looks pretty sweet. It's 6 1/8 inches long, 5.125 inches high, and 1.125 inches wide. And it's DA/SA.

A Walther P22, but in a real PD caliber, with a steel slide, would be beyond amazing.

Glock 26!!!

Oh yeah, no Glocks

You have dismissed, out of hand, the best sub compact 9mm auto out there: Glock 26!!! :scrutiny: :what:

These guns have been on the market long enough for there to have been reported all kinds of data concerning reliability, ease of carry, accuracy, and safety.

I note that, as far as I know, there have been ZERO reports of KBs with this gun if that is your concern. ;)

Reliability is as close to 100% as a man made mechanical device can get!!!
Accuracy is far better than is required for self defense work.
Not to mention that there are all kinds of goodies, both mundane and exotic, to personalize your toy!! Every holster maker and his dog makes Kydex or leather to fit this gun!!

I trust the G26 to protect my loving wife. I can give no higher recommendation!!!
Oh yeah, I carry it as well!! :D

StressPuppy, did your PM9 come with one of the extended magazines? They ship new with one of each - short and extended. The extended mag gives one extra round and a longer grip.

I just bought an MK9 on Saturday and haven't been able to shoot it yet. I'm sensing that a long lunch hour will be needed tomorrow.
