Small gun show today - any South PA folks go?

Greencastle PA .... small show at the Mason-Dixon Auto Auction place, just off I 81. I only remembered last night and decided to go along .... was there approx 12.30 to 2.30. Just wondered if anyone else went along from THR.

I saw at least three S&W's I partly wanted ... a beaut pre M27 but longer barrel than I wanted .. plus it was IIRC about $689 or so .. and no box. Also saw a nice M29-3, but would prefer to find an earlier one ... that too was longer barrel than I wanted. Otherwise ... was awful temped to pick up more stuff like 91/30, M44, Yugo etc ... but I resisted .... duplication leads to overcrowding! (MORE overcrowding!).

Made up for it tho with ammo! Case of 800 rnds of the Australian .308, an ammo box containg 1,000 Speer 9mm JHP rounds .. good SD ammo ........ and (another) case of 7.62 x 39 Wolf. Plenty enough effect on the pocket.

As ever .... majority of prices were not advantageous with the guns .... there were quite a few Bulgie Maks for $159 .... they seemed quite good . and a few CZ-52's as well .. but more expensive than some ... $129 they were - but then it would save shipping so maybe not so bad.

So .. anyone else go ... or going tomorrow?

Sounds like a decent little show. I see the notices for the Greencastle show from time to time in SG News, but missed this one. I'll have to try and make it over there one of these days. At the moment I'm "saving up" for the Harrisburg show in March... well I'm trying to at least. Since the THR shoot down here I've picked up both an EG and Russian Military Mak, and I just ordered a Yugo from AIM. Guess I'm not doing all that good a job of "saving" after all, am I?

That pre 27 sounds nice. I was quite enamored with the 5" 27 you had with you when you were down here. I'd love to find one of those...

Hey Dale .... Good news on the Maks ... compelling little puppies eh! And a Yugo too .... have fun with the cosmo!!

Yeah ... not a bad lil show really ... and I am aware of the Harrisburg one as well .. not sure whether I'll make that but if so .. could well be we'll meet up.

The one I have put on the calendar is another smaller one but nearer .. that's at McConnellsburg March 20 and 21. I can get there inside an hour. Mind you, with what I spent on ammo yesterday ... hmmm ... recovery time needed!

Was at a 100 bird trap shoot at club today .. the pistol/rifle range was like this (pic) ..... and that won't be clear a while yet! Ho hum ... patience I guess.

Pretty pic from the range... but it is tough being a rifle fan this time of year. Spring's on the way...

Yeah, I've developed quite a fondness for the little Makarovs... compact, reliable, simple to strip... lots going for them. Plus growing up during the Cold War left me with a definite fascination for all things Comm Block... especially weapons. Thought I'd round out my collection... now all I need is a Norinco (passed on a really nice one for sale at the range I frequent... it passed through just a couple of months before I found out just how much I like the little buggers).

I expect I'll be up to my elbows in cosmo when the Yugo arrives. Thought I might try to assemble a small collection of those as well. Have the Russian, and my buddy's offered to make me a good deal on his Romanian. I think I've missed out on the nicest of the latest batch of Albanians, but I'm sure I'll stumble on one some day...

Perhaps we'll cross paths at a show one of these days. I look forward to it.
