That Zigana looks like a Taurus PT-145 clone to me.

Anyone ever put hands on one?

Glock 36 (I also carry a G19 when I want more capacity):

I've got a CW45 that I've added night sights to and did a covert conversion to, cut ~1/2" off the grip frame and use a PM mag. IMHO it's about perfect has the longer slide and sight radius, functions perfect and is accurate.

I have a S&W 296 Ti. It's a 5 shot .44 Spl built on an alloy L Frame with a titanium cylinder and 2.5" barrel. Its DAO with a strange looking humback frame and internal hammer. I think its one of the oddest looking revolvers S&W ever made. Due to the aluminum and titanium construction, its only about 18oz. It has enough recoil to let you know its a lightweight launching a big bullet but its controllable with a proper grip and practice...I like it and carry it when I want a revolver that is about as light and potent as can be had.

jeepnik, do you actually carry that AMT .45? i shot on back in 1993 and it was a jamomatic....it was a fellow cop's and he carried as a BUG but it wouldnt stumble through one magazine without jamming on me...no i didnt limp wrist it. i had the same version but in .380 back then too.

oh yeah, lets not forget the glock GAP gun that pretty small too.
Yep, regularly. The biggest problem folks had with the Backup is that they never broke the darned thing in. I imagine you could still find some today with less that a box of shells run thru them.

Mine was tight, I mean really tight when new. And shooting the darned thing is not fun. But, after a couple hundred rounds thru it it smoothed out nicely and has been jam free since.

Another complaint was the trigger. Yep, new they were stiff and gritty. The same couple of hundred rounds did smooth the trigger some but didn't do much for the weight of the trigger. A good smith (those are fewer and farther between than folks realize) worked it over and made a world of difference.

This isn't now nor was it ever designed to be a 25yd gun. It's a belly gun meant for up close and personal. I have no problem keeping it minute of torso out to 15 yds. Not bad for a gun with essentially no sights.

been pondering....with all the high caps out there, even the G26 and what not....how many prefer and actually carry a big bore compact gun?
I used to, but due to various issues I no longer prefer a big bore compact. Why? because I have found that I can put more rounds, lead and energy accurately into a target in a short period of time with a compact 9MM than a compact big bore.

Which big bore CCW gun are you talking about?

I carry my S&W 500 all the time. I have not had to discharge anything yet because they run when they stare into the 1/2" barrel. :)

I totally agree. I was thinking the same thing. The PT145 has 10 rounds of .45ACP power in a small package. It is a greal little gun though bigger than the PM45. However, it also has 2x the rounds of the PM45.

I thought the question was on big bore small guns,

I carried my Bond Arms derringer to Wallyworld this morning. .410 000 buck loaded instead of 250 grain 45 Colt.

Charter Arms Bulldog .44spl
Kahr PM45 or CW45
Glock 36

Bulldog: Had an old one. Shot to breakage. Modern .44 Special ammo is generally weak, lame, and super-expensive. It's a big case that needs a stronger gun to use to full SD potential. Perhaps a 240-260 grain HP at 950-1100 fps?

Kahr PM45 next gun on my list. Have a PM 9. Nice, compact, but would like a 45. I'm encouraged by the owner comments here.

Glock 36. Only tried the 30. I like the 10 rounds idea, but too thick, blocky, and inaccurate for me. That's me, shooting a range gun, and I find the trigger hard to shoot well. Not even the most reliable Glock for that matter.

Another gun to look at the Kahr PM40. Still probably go with .45 ACP.

I like my P45. I was prepared to love my PM45, but the P45 was nearly as small, holds one more round and is not at all picky about ammo.

If your PM45 works perfectly, it may be the perfect choice for you. Mine was not quite perfect for me, but is perfect for the guy I sold it to--and he is a far more experienced handloader and shooter than I.

I thought the question was on big bore small guns,
it was, but some have tried to morph it into "not much bigger and".....a G36 is not in this category as it is as big as a G19....there some others mentioned as well but i still read this to see what other learned carriers use......

Those five shot .40something wheelies by taurus and charter arms seem about right on the money for the size limit and still big bore....

The one thing that really surprises me about this thread, and no it's not that folks have drifted off topic, is that I'm not the only one still carrying the .45 AMT Backup.:D

I too have and carry a Taurus 44 snubby. I handload full wadcutter rounds as the velocity is very marginal to get expansion of a JHP.

The gun is heavy to carry but a good belt help. Living "up north" I can also pocket carry this in a coat. This allows a grip on the gun without alarming others. Nice to be able to do this walking to your car in the dark.

I was almost on board with the G36 but lamenting its grip angle when I heard about the XDs from Springfield. .45ACP in a small (and THIN) package.

I'd still have mine if I'd have never picked up a Kahr, the guy I sold mine to still has it and carrys it.

I enjoy my 450 and 431. Both are stoked with handloads, the 45LC is a
250gr hornady xtp. The 44spl is a 240gr nosler jsp.
