I'm on a bit of a revolver binge.
I just picked up a Smith M19-5 to go with my other Smiths. It's the two and a half inch model. I'd been looking for a short M66 for a few years. Got close to buying a couple but was always a bit short of cash.
The 19-5 was around $100 cheaper than the M66s I'd seen so I jumped at it.

My son and I stopped at one of the clubs I belong to on the way back from the gun store. We shot a bunch of .38 reloads from seven and three yards. I tried some shooting on the move and a cylinder full from 45 yards. The gun shot well, although the groups were left. I didn't have a screwdriver that would fit the sight screws, or it would be shooting center now.

I've heard some bad things about the way these short .357s balance. To me mine feels fine. I need a good holster for it and it will see the woods like my M28 did recently.

If it feels good - it probably is!! In your hands at least.

The venerable and much loved M19 is a great gun ... as yet it is one I have not managed to add to my stable. Sounds to me as tho you have a keeper ... :)

The ''balance'' deal is very much a personal thing IMO - some might take my carry SP-101 and decide it was too heavy - too awkward .. too short ... in the end .. if you like a gun and it shoots adequately (for you) then you have a good gun ... end of story!:p

If you tire of it - drop me a PM ... we can do a deal!:D

Don't sit around waiting for me to turn loose of my 19-5.
I plan to hang on to it and then pass it on to my kids.

I had the M19-5 at the range for the second time yesterday.
I shot a couple of my reloads and some Black Hills 125 grain .357 Magnum ammo. All of it shot way left and high at 15 yards, even though the Black Hills stuff was louder and kicked a whole lot more.

I got the elevation fixed in a minute or two. Windage was another kettle of brass. It took all the right windage the sight had to get the point of impact within an inch or so of point of aim. Good enough for general work, I guess.

My son shot it some too and enjoyed himself.

Still need a good holster for the M19.
