Smith 617 22LR 4 or 6 inch barrel

I would be in the same boat as you if I were going to buy a new one. That said they cost so much these days and I have the area covered the only way I would buy one now would be a good deal and then the length wouldn't matter.
 
I was looking at a new 4" 617 in the last week or so. Really a nice revolver!! I have wanted one, but I really don't need it as I have a number of 22 revolvers (M17's, M18, Colts, Ruger etc.). So, I kept my money in my pocket. The one I want is a 3" M63 now. I would make some effort to purchase it where as the 617 other than round count, is similar to what I already have.
 
Got a 17-8 in a six inch and will never sell it. Got a 357 in a six inch and wish it was a four inch. Colt python elite is right. Six is for target, 4 is for carry.
