Any particular reason you are looking at the S&W Model? No offense intended just asking why that particular one.

I've got the M&P 15FT, which is the same thing with a pinned stock and no flash hider for those of us in states where those are considered evil features.

It's excellent. Quality is top notch, accuracy is superb. I haven't had a chance to ring it out like my Colt in a class yet but I've had no malfunctions. It's a little nose heavy with that heavy rail so think about how much you want to hang off there. If you don't need the rail, look for a lighter alternative. $1,900 is too much, I paid about $1,300 for mine after showing the Bud's link to a local retailer.

For a comparison I picked up my Rock River AR-15 in Kali for $1100 in store. Chambered in 5.56 NATO, 16" barrel and 1:9 twist. Fun little gun and more accurate as I created some reloads that it really likes.

I am not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to AR's, but I know a lot of people who are. I have heard both good and bad about Rock River, DPMS, Stag Arms and pretty much every other rifle maker out there. Everyone I know who has a S&W has been very pleased with it. I am not saying that S&W is the best and that the others are junk, just that with my personal experiences that I prefer S&W. It also helps that with all the extras that come with this rifle, at $1300 it seems to be a steal.

I've got an M&P 15 and love it. Is it any better than any other AR? probably not. Though I have to say it feels very solid with no wiggle, great accuracy, and great reliability.

Just happened to be at the range today, and guy had an M&P in 5.45. He liked it, didn't see him have any issues, and it was pretty accurate.

I love my SW MP15, just got it 3 weeks ago, put about 250 rounds thru it , no problems. In NJ my choices were limited, I purchassed the MP 15 #811004for $1370 out the door:)

You can build a better rifle for the same amount of money. I built my 2nd AR with a 16" Noveske Recce upper, Magpul AFG, MOE grip and buttstock, and DD Omega rail for $1360.

I picked one up last week for $1216. Going to give her a test drive on Thursday. I've read nothing but good reviews on the S&W M&P 15T. Hope she live up to my expectations.

I have an M&P15T and I have been very happy with it. I got it because it had pretty much everything on it that I wanted in a rifle. It is accurate and the upper and lower fit great with each other. I think that you would definately be happy with it. But as kamagong said above, you could probably build a comparable or better one for the same price. That is what I will be doing for my next rifle.

I think I am going to grab one of these M&P15T's - seems like they are a good deal for about $1250 or so they seem to be going for. I've been impressed by the S&W 15-22 I own, so to my mind this would be a perfect addition for me. I need a new 5.56/.223 anyway - I currently don't have one and they are a fair bit cheaper shooting than my 308's.
