I've bought, sold and/or traded a LOT of guns in my life. I've regretted buying a few, regretted selling/trading most of them. The one I regret trading the most was a beautiful Model 57-1. It shot suuuweeet! I bought it at Walmart for $260 but boy,was it costly to feed! My Model 29-2 was a great gun but NOT as great as that 57. Having said that,I would not make the trade if I were you

i have a 57 no dash that i realy like but i wouldnt trade down if his is in worse shape keep what you have

I love the .41 and have two of them. But I would never trade a nice .44mag for a scuffed up .41mag. Find a good shooter and buy it outright. You can then send it out for a new blue job.

I wouldn't make that trade unless they kicked in some cash. Find a nice one and being a no dash is not that big a deal for the M57.

By the way, I love the 41 mag.

Barry,

A gun dealer near where I live has a S&W 58 (fixed sighed version) and part of the cylinder has all it's bluing gone. He want's $1000! Yea sure... But on Gunsamerica you can find a lot of them for $600. Some in the original box.

Be careful and get it as low as you can cause you will have to reload!

A worn out 58 for a grand? I wouldn't deal with a guy that smokes crack. +1 on reloading for the .41, you couldn't afford to shoot it otherwise.

By the time I figured out what a 58 was, and that I wanted one, the prices had gone crazy, and now they are just insane.

$300! Barry that is great. It can be beaten up and still be a great shooter.

Now if you don't reload no fret.

Get a Lee 4 hole Turret press 'value' kit for about 120 bucks

http://ads.midwayusa.com/product/622290/lee-4-hole-turret-press-with-auto-index-value-kit

A Lee .41 Magnum carbide die set. $32 bucks

http://ads.midwayusa.com/product/641024/lee-carbide-3-die-set-41-remington-magnum

And crimp die. $19 bucks.

And then power, primers, brass and slugs.

Starline makes brass.

Midway has everything else.

I feel $200 is about what you will expend before you are ready to reload.

Oh, and then you can reload most rounds by simply adding dies, turrets, powder measure, etc...

My old Lee 3 hole press, 30+ years old, is used to reload M1 carbine, .380, .38 S&W, 9mm, .38 Spl., .357 magnum, .44 Magnum, .45 ACP, and .45 Autorim (yes my .45 Autorim is separate die set, so is the .357 magnum.)

I use a Lyman turret press for large rifle ammo like .223 on up to .338.
