I ran across a guy with a Smith Wesson 645 45acp for $400. The gun is in excellent condition. Is this a good or bad price? Also, am I correct with the information that this gun was made from 1985 to 1988 only? Heard of any problems with this gun? Thanks

For around my part of the country that's not a bad price if it's in very good condition.
I carried mine for a couple of years while I was commanding a couple of drug task forces. I put a set of Wolff springs in it. Shoots like a target gun. Even with the hottest loads it's a real soft shooting gun due to its weight.
I carried this combo quite a bit doing raids. The 4506 grips tend to fit people better but I like the metal back strap on the 645 for the work I was doing when I carried it.

My big issue is w/ the grip. If the grip fits you & you can live w/ it, then get it. The few guys I know that have S&W semi autos really like them
