So I went to look at one of these bad boys today...The only rifle the gun stocked. And an A-bolt.

The stock is really flimsy. They only offer plastic(sorry, synthetic :neener:) in black or camo, with the built in swivel studs. This is a very poor designed stock. The one I was looking at was touching the barrel the entire length on one side and not at all on the other side. So much for a "free floated" barrel.

The action wasn't smooth at all. The salesguy claimed it was the smoothest action out there. Compared to a Remington 700, it was about 2 times as gritty. I told them I looked at a Tikka T3 and how smooth that action was. He dismissed the Tikka because the bolt only has 2 lugs and will bind up on you in the field....(BS alert). He kept telling me how the 3 lug design keeps the bolt in line making it smoother and made sure it didn't bind up. He also kept telling me how the new 3 lug designs were the type of the future, they are the only ones that will hold their value and will make the 2 lug ones obsolete. I found it strange that he only offers the best guns of the future but the other gun he had (a Browning A-bolt) was being discontinued.

He kept saying he isn't stocking anything besides the S&W and the new X-bolt(when they come out...) because the 3 lug design is the gun for the next generation(blah blah blah). He said almost specifically that Remington 700's aren't any good because they are generic, wont sell, are the gun of yesteryears and that kinda stuff...Not only about Remington's but about all guns in general. Found it kind of weird because I was there to see how much he could order a 700 for me for.

The barrel is apparently blackened SS. "its chrome lined, as any good rifles are" he told me. The finish itself looks like an enamel finish but seems to be some sort of oxidation finish. Its not nice, however.

Overall, I wasn't impressed at all with the gun. I know hes just trying to make an honest buck but he should realize that not everyone likes A-bolts(or X-bolts for that matter) and he would get more business by being having different guns. He did have a good selection of AR's. Most were reasonably priced and were all MA compliant(well, duh, but they are hard to get here).

I'm confused, were you looking at a I-bolt, or a browning A-bolt?
the I-bolt comes highly recommended, Timney trigger, thompson/center bbl, built in pillar X cross pillar bedding in the stock, solid forged pieces in the receiver, and bolt, with the bolt being a Z moving pullout from the back, no lever to push or pull.
