I have a number of pistol choices at hand, covering every possible preference. Of all of those choices, I choose to carry an M&P. I also have a number of M&Ps cached in various locations should I find myself in need without one on me.

Any of the three will do. :neener:

For me:

I fired/chose from xd 9, m&p, and px4.

I chose to purchase H&K P2000. Great Gun! Second place goes to px4, then to m&p.

i have a mp45 i love it can't think of one bad thing to say about it i also have a glock26 i love it also can't think of one bad thing to say about it
hmmmm....i voted mp for the different size backstraps it comes with, thats the only thing i know of that one-ups the mp over a glock

I voted Glock because my M&P is too new (to me) to get the top spot for me. I do shoot the M&P really well, maybe (maybe) better than my G19. The grip on the full size M&P is just enough bigger to fit me perfectly. The trigger reset point is not as noticeable as the Glock but that should be overcome with range time.

Plans to purchase a G21 may change to M&P45 if they ever come out with the full capacity magazines. Still too early to say for sure though......

I carry a M&P40 on duty. It's a solid servicable pistol. I'm not all that excited about it, I'm kind of old fashioned, as I perfer the Hi-Power when it comes to autos.
I think all the pistols that are mentioned in the poll are fine service pistols.
I think it will be interesting to see how the M&P series holds-up and what kind of service record it develops as the design matures through the years

The 10 round is the standard/full capacity for the M&P45. Are you talking about the 14 round mags? They are extend out the grip a ways (much like a 17 mag in a Glock 19).

Well, good question. I had heard (translation read on mp-pistols.com) about the 14 round mags. I emailed S&W to ask if they were going to offer magazines with a capacity higher than 10. The reply I received was, and I quote; "we should have a hi-cap mag sometime this year". This is the first I have heard that they would extend from the grip and I certainly have no interest in that. I haven't handled the .45 all that much, is it that much thinner than the G21 because otherwise it seems as big. A G21 sized gun with the capacity of a G30 seems....not desirable to me. Not that I doubt you but where does your information come from?

The information comes those who asked S&W about it at SHOT Show, and was provided on 10-8forums.com and mp-pistols.com. A photo of a prototype 14 round mag was put up on mp-pistols.com. Also, the design of the 10 round mag and M&P grip doesn't appear to allow for 4 extra rounds to be put in a flush fitting mag.

The M&P grip feels far slimmer than the G21, and the slide seems a bit slimmer as well. The M&P feels like a slightly chunky 1911, while the G21 (which I like) just feels chunky.

Mp .40

My MP .40 is a Tack Driver. Combine that with 16 rds of 180gr Bonded Winchester Law Enforcement Ammo. And You are ready to do Battle:evil:

The list is a group of Very Reliable and Accurate handguns. I would have probably Included the Berreta and CZ in that same group.:)

The Best to All!

Thanks for the additional info. Don't think I'll be using the 14 round magazine as much of a factor as I originally thought.

It'll be good as a spare, and I don't think you'll mind having just 10 rounds in that grip.

Have you fondled a M&P .45? The grip feels really close to the 9/40 models, which is quite good.

I've had/fired all of these and my preference is for the M&P. While I wouldn't kick a gift Sig in the mouth, I found that, for me, the feel and pointability of the M&P is superior to any of the others. If I get a chance at another P229 DAK without the accessory rail, I'd jump on it in a heartbeat, though...I do love the DAK trigger! And if i could get an M&P without a rail, I'd sell my wife to get it (don't tell her I said that, though...:D)

Yes but only briefly. I have an M&P9 which I'd have to agree regarding the grip. It fits my hand just about perfect. Just enough longer than my G19 to get that last finger completely on the grip without my middle finger being jammed up against trigger guard. I will probably rent an M&P45 on a future range trip.

Also agree that as a spare or for the range, maybe even for nightstand duty that the extended mag could be useful.

I recently picked up a S&W M&P in 9mm and while a decent little pistol it's a long ways from being the pistol many on this page have described.
I would have to see or be privy to any evidence to it unseating Glock from it's lofty perch. I just don't believe LE is flocking to this new kid on the block, there's way to many issues needing resolution and refinement.
It just seems to me that in order for it to stand as tall as it's fanboys claim it should at the very least be able to equal the performance of the pistols it's meant to compete with, something it very clearly doesn't do.

Glocks

I would have to say Glock, because that's what I'm familiar with, and all of my leather is set up for the Glock.

Handled an M&P, and I just didn't like the feel of it.

To each his own.

Where is option E "all of the above" ? I have 3 of the 4. Never shot a Glock. They are just so ugly and blocky. I know, dumb reason not to like a gun. But, everyone sings their praises. I don't care which gun of the 4 I have when suck hits the fan. I just want it loaded and reliable.

But, if you were to press me, I have the most rounds through my P226, but then my M&P 45 is a lot of stopping power and yet the H&K P30 fits my hand like a glove. Oh, heck....who can decide?
