It just seems to me that in order for it to stand as tall as it's fanboys claim it should at the very least be able to equal the performance of the pistols it's meant to compete with, something it very clearly doesn't do.

Interesting take there BO. In what ways does the M&P "clearly" not equal the performance of oh, say Glock, Sig, or XD?

I'd love to hear this as well. I'll be picking an M&P up to test for myself as well as because it fits my wife's hand better than the Glock.

In a life or death situation, I'd be grateful to have any of these guns, or the XD or the CZ, or any number of other reliable weapons, for that matter. I seriously doubt I'd be thinking about a gun's aesthetic value or which gun had better ergonomics, or most especially which gun had more "soul" if I was fighting for my life. As long as I can pull the trigger and send a round into an opponent, any gun that met that criteria would be my favorite gun of the moment.

I'll take a Glock. It's proven, points fine after you spend a couple of hours handling it, and the trigger mechanism seems to be of a more durable & reliable design than the others. Sig trigger return springs have a reputation for breaking after hard use, and it looks like the M&P could suffer from the same weakness once they have been around as long.

Glock has a similar issue in terms of trigger return springs and slide lock springs. If the latter break, then the slide can come off when you dryfire. If the former breaks, you can end up with a trigger which has to be pushed forward to function. I've had that happen and it was annoying.

If you're gonna name a pistol so boldly, it just goes to reason you should be able to run it with the Nato standard round, something that i believe voids the warranty on the M&P. This is a very valid point, the competition can run with this ammo, so if you're gonna claim superiority of design you better damn well be able to at the least run with them! IMHO the M&P is also more complicated to maintain and render for service.
It's a pretty good gun as far as plastic goes, a solid base hit for S&W, just not an extra base hit.

My understanding of the M&P manual is that NATO is not prohibited, nor is any other ammunition. The manual excerpts I've read indicate that a steady diet of such ammunition may increase wear on the weapon, but it certainly doesn't void the warranty.

This is pretty consistent with most gun manufacturers.

Thats what I thought to, only after buying one did I contact S&W and they in no uncertain terms told me it voids the warranty. Thats not superior, thats not even equal IMO.

Given that such an oral statement contradicts their written statament (the manual), I doubt they would stand by it.

An interesting comment you make there. In fact another member (former, he was BANNED) made a very similar comment about dry firing M&Ps. In fact, your personal profile that I've just taken a screen shot of, is pretty much the same as that members personal profile. You live in the same basic area of the country as well. Very interesting.

It seems for you that it doesn't matter what the manual says, you seem to always get the magic sales rep. that give you information that you want to hear. I called S&W too and they said NATO FMJ was fine and that it would be absurd to name a gun Military and Police and have Nato ball ammo void the warranty.

No, you couldn't be the same person because if you were you'd be tooting Glocks horn wouldn't you. It's just a silly coincidence, I'm sure.

You might want to be careful about that banning talk pal. I've looked over several of your posts and all violate this sites stated hate thread posting policy. Instead of acting like an adolescent why don't you do a little research on the topic. You've not made a new friend.

The research I've done on the M&P contradicts what you've posted. The manual contradicts what you posted.

If you're not the guy, than you're not the guy, no reason to get bent pal. We're all here just talking firearms.

I only pointed out the similarity between you two, because just like in the previous posters case, the information you're posting about S&W manual vs what customer service said turned out to be false.

Oddly enough, you both own M&Pc as well.
