Just got a Sigma 9mm from a friend that put about 200 rounds through it.

He did not like the trigger, but after shooting it was not all that bad.

Picked the pistol up for $225, so pretty cheap for a pistol.

I tried a few types of ammo:

Sigma likes
S&B
WWB

Sigma dislikes
MFS
Brown Bear

Funny thing is that my Ruger SR9 and Ruger P95 chew through pretty much any 9mm while the Sigma is a bit more picky.

Accuracy was OK, not nearly as good as my SR9 and P95.

All in all I would not pay $350 for a Sigma, but $225 is a fair price. The quality feel of the pistol is fairly low (feels cheap).

If anyone uses the gun for home defense make sure you run some ammo and that the pistol likes it.

The Sigma's trigger was originally designed to be a DAO with a heavy pull, somewhat like a shortened revolver pull. It is likely that if you wrap more of your finger around the trigger - actually putting it in the crease of your first knuckle - and pull straight back and through in a smooth motion, you will get better results.

As I said, I did not really have a big problem with the trigger. My biggest thing is the pistol feels kind of cheap.

vs P95

how would you compare the Sigma with your P95 Ruger? I've seen some of them going for prices almost as low as the sigma. just looking for an inexpensive 9 or 40 to toss in the trunk and forget about it ( unless I need it)

how is the trigger on the P95? thanks

I much prefer the P95 over the Sigma. They cost about the same $$$$$, but the P95 is built better IMO.

The Sigma is harder to find mags for than the P95. and the Sigma has a S&W proprietary picatinny rail while the Ruger uses a standard one.

The Sigma is lighter by about 4 ounces.

I think the P95 has a nice trigger by far in SA mode, DA the P95's trigger feels too long as do all DA/SA pistols in DA mode.

The Sigma is a much easier takedown than the P95 as it is so Glock like.

Both the P95 and Sigma are two tone (two tone looks better than all black IMO). Sigma only come available in two tone only where as you can get an all black P95 if you desire.

I believe S&W is discontinuing the Sigma so it will be very difficult to find aftermarket stuff for it whereas the P95 is still going strong.

My advice is to go try each one out and see which one you like the feel of. I happen to think Ruger is the best gun for the money, but that is my opinion. Some people want DA/SA while some want striker fire.

Bud's Gun Shop has the P95 in stainless for $320 shipped and that is a great price. If you can get a Sigma on the cheap like me, go for it.

Yes, they do. Wolff gun springs has a kit. You don't want the spring to reduce the striker assembly. You'll have FTF's.

Try this: Take out the trigger assembly, remove the "mousetrap" or "pigtail" spring at the bottom of the assembly. It reduces the trigger pull just right.. And it didn't cost a penny...

Search for other sigma related articles here, and do the polish job on the sear..

smith-wessonforum.com has a dedicated Sigma group and a couple of the guys over there have had great success with removing the pigtail spring. Like Lone said, the first knuckle is the sweet spot. Besides without any lame external safety the trigger is it, so if its a little heavy i'm good.

Last I heard the factory fifty dollar rebate is back.

I'm very happy with my Sigma 9mm. Trigger is ok. It'll loosen up the more rounds you put through it. Great Weapon, easy to break down and clean.

Came with 10 round mags. Will 16 round mags work my Sigma 9?

There are at least 8 threads currently running about the Sigma pistol. Its sole purpose is to make the S&W M&P look good IMO. These have been dumped on the market with prices as low as $250 or less. I am not saying it's an unreliable pistol, it's just not worthy of comment. I do understand why so many have questions about this pistol as most buyers are first time owners, not all but most. I do not dislike the S&W pistols, just do not care to see the Handguns: Autoloaders section of THR saturated with threads about the SOSigma.
