I'm using 9mm WWB in my Glock 19 for practice/idpa now but I'd like to find a less "snappy" recoiling round for quicker follow up shots. I'm also not very happy with my groupings using the 115gr value pack rounds.

Would the 147gr JHP WWB have less muzzle climb? How about Federal American Eagle 147gr Flat Point? What about the NATO 124 rounds? I want to try and spend less than $8-$9 per box of 50. Suggestions?

I've been researching this for the last couple days and haven't really found any conclusive information.

Thanks.

the "old standard" in 9mm was the 124gr loading...so that is what it was originally designed to throw. however any NATO loading is going to give you more recoil as the standard NATO loading would be considered +p, if not +p+.

the 115gr has become the current defacto standard loading in 9mm. you're not going to get ultimate accuracy shooting WWWB. the most accurate loading i've shot in the 115gr weight is the federal classic 9BP JHP.

the 147gr loads are usually sub-sonic and have generally proven very accurate in my 9mms (sig, glock, hk)...i used to shoot the winchester super match 147gr JHP. but the heavier bullet has a tendency to push pretty good due to it's higher inertia.

when ernest langdon took the IDPA SS championship shooting a beretta 92 elite, in 9mm, he was shooting 135gr bullets. he said it was a good load as it was accurate, was controlable and still functioned the slide with some authority...for followup shots.

if you want to stick with the budget ammo, you may have to buy serveral boxes of each loading on the market to see which works best in your glock. i think the more "generous" chamber makes it more "picky" about what it will shoot best with.

better and more versatile fix is to change your recoil spring weight and ensure your grip is good and consistent. for the G19, for carry, I run 15lbs instead of the factory 18lbs. reduces the snap and likelihood of limp-wristing (in case I get a suboptimal grip in a SHTF situation) and allows faster followups. For competition I go down to 13lbs. but have to use a reduced power striker spring to maintain reliability. For splits up to about 10 yds. and maintaining visual control I stay within high teens, low twenties.. can push faster but then that second shot may just be a Mike!!

Unfortunately for you, you will not find any factory loaded ammunition that recoils less than 115gr WWB.

If you want low recoil and high accuracy I agree with ktulu, you might want to look into reloading.

My wife really likes shooting Sellior and Bellot 9mm 115 gr. It has a bit less snap than the WWB.
