So, Anybody Else Roll Out of Bed Today?

Ok I’ll share my birthday suit to “orange†story.

A few years ago when the “railroad killer†Resendez was on the loose I came home for the weekend to visit friends. My mom was on vacation for two weeks so I was coming home to an empty house. Mom’s house is located about 400 yards from the RR tracks. Since there had been several sightings close to home (and a couple murders) I thought I’d be cautious/paranoid when entering. I cleared the house (except for one room) and proceeded to take a shower before heading out for the evening. While I’m washing my hair I hear BANG…CLANK….CRASH…THUD. Well needless to say this got my attention. My first thought was “well this could be bad†my second thought was “now what do I do?â€. My best guess had the sound coming from the one room I didn’t clear (the master bedroom on the opposite side of the bathroom wall) so now I’m a little concerned. Being cautious/paranoid I took my Glock with me into the bathroom. Being even more cautious/paranoid I locked the door and pulled the drawers from the sink out to block the door in case the lock got picked (which takes about 2 seconds with a tooth pick). So I get out of the shower, towel off, put on some shorts, stick the extra clip in my teeth, and decide to investigate. I clear the house, twice, and find nothing. Still pumping with adrenaline I go to my room for some socks. I happen to notice a metal beer tray I had hanging on the wall was now wedged between my old dresser and the wall (the other bathroom wall). It appears that it fell while I was in the shower and bounced off my dresser causing the racket.

I found out a few months later that Resendez was several states away during my incident. One of my best friends (a State Trooper) told me he was sent out to patrol Route 3 with a good description of the stolen car and missed arresting Resendez buy about an hour.

Um... No Funny Animal Stories, But...

"It was a dark & stormy night" = Power outage and I'm sleeping peacefully through it. WHAM! CRASH! crashcrashcrash-tinkle!!! about 1000lbs of oaktree came down in the pitchblack and wiped out my front PORCH! Plus 2 windows and the front door:what: I'm awake up and have a Marlin 44Mag carbine zeroed in on the partially opened front door when the power comes on and the nightlight gives me enough light to see the 'intruder' is vegetable, not animal. Spent the next few houres with a chainsaw and a nailgun clearing treebranch and juryrigging plywood windowpanes.
The insurence eventually paid for the damage. :banghead: After prolonged negotiation:banghead: = Yes, I took pics:eek:

I levitated out of battery
Bogie ... you have one heck of a way with words.

I'm not nearly as tactical as you folks. When I sleep, I tend to sleep pretty soundly. Was living in California when they had that little 6.7 shake-rattle-and-roll over in Northridge back in '94. I was sleeping on the top bunk on the second story somewhere in Pasadena (close enough to the quake that some buildings around us had some severe structural damage ... and we had a few cracked walls in our house at that).

My dad had to wake me up to tell me that there was something going on and to get my shoes.

Today, if someone kicked in my door and started tossing flashbangs, I'd probably get up eventually. No promises.
