Idaho Yay!
I finally got outta the PRK and I have a wad of cash ear marked for a more modern 7.62 nato rifle. Anyone own a SCAR 17, LMT MWS, or some other AR-10 type platform, feel like telling me why you like it?

I'm kinda intrigued by the LMT MWS, how much if any part commonality does it have with the other AR-10s? Does it take the magpul P-mags?

I'd say the other serious contender would be starting with an Armalite parts kit and building an AR 10 at this point. If I were to pass the SCAR 17 price point.... I'd just by the SCAR.

I see you've moved to Idaho, good for you. I always like it when people have the guts to move out from under slavery.

Yeah, I love it here. Looking for work as I just graduated. Applied for a product manager's assistant position at Browning.... if anyone from Browning reads this I really want to work for you!

Congat's on escapeing Californistan.

I don't own the LMT .308, but I have shot one with a Nightforce scope. It was awesome. I just wish it had some slope to the flat top. 20moa maybe.

I've seen a similar Larue OBR hit consistantly at 1000+ yards. But it's really ugly and expensive.

Own a SCAR17s. Also spent a couple weeks with LMT MWS. I preferred the SCAR 17s just a little over the LMT. Both are excellent products. Buy the one
that fits you the best. SCAR17s and MWS are the at the top of their class. Nothing else comes close.

Thanks guys when I saw the LMT took P-mags I think that threw it over the top. I love the SCAR but getting magazines and stuff is making me stress lol. I kinda like the fact I can snag this LMT with the chrome lined barrel and mags and an ACOG for what I was gonna spend on the SCAR.

Yeah I saw that Armalite wasn't compatible with P-mags, kinda ruined that option! FAL mags would be good too though, already have those around :) De-Californerized the FAL already well almost... I need some parts from the mag release....

I've seen a few of the 16 inch Chrome lined barrels for the LMT floating around actually. More than I can say for the SCAR at this point. Looks like if you're patient and willing to pay LMT will sent you one in about 4-16 weeks according to their online store. Seen them on a few sites too.

308 pmags aren't the phenom they're 5.56 counterparts are. When you buy a 10 pack from Armalite, they are only $27.50. Double lapped chrome lining is standard on all non-stainless barrels.

You get quite a lot of gun for the money when comparing to the others. I'm not saying its the best....just saying its the best bang for the buck.

Oh, I'm not knocking the Armalite. I'm just OCD and like the fact I can change the barrel with a pair of screws.... I'd own one of everything If i could haha. the only reason I mentioned it took P-mags was because LMT wants 85 dollars for their mags, if other mags were not an option I'd be back to the SCAR again.

When I get some extra money again I'll probably buy an Armalite parts kit to build for the heck of it anyway. see if i can make a couple bucks off it, and probably keep it anyway haha.

I almost bout a pair black powder revolvers at a gun show a few weeks back, because I was going to resell them pair of uberti repos in good shape for 60 bucks a piece. Then I had to remember when it comes to guns I'm a hoarder and couldn't let myself buy them haha.

You made the right choice to move to Idaho, like I did. I don't even like going back to CA anymore.

On topic, I handled a SCAR 17S at a local fun store. It was okay, if the price would drop I would buy it, but the AR's are more common and if you are familiar with the AR platform that is a plus, just not all manufacturers use the same dimensions in building AR-10's.

I just wish I had a lot of cash lying around to get a SCAR or M1A, but lately all of my money has been going toward pistols.

Oh I see you're in my neck of the woods too. I called LMT most of the internals and the other parts are proprietary, they did say they buy a few things but yeah not gonna be able to frankenstein it outta other AR10s I guess. Was hoping the springs would be but who knows, they do sell parts for them too though. I think I made up my mind.

Yeah, I wont be going back to CA haha, or any state like it. I do have an M1A, I just wanted a true EBR to call my own.

Yessir! certainly is! I think they're sick of me in all the local gun stores already :).

To be fair, I did buy my Glock magazines from one, now if only he start being friendly... I don't think he is the terribly social type unless you've been around for 20 years....
