So I had this damned Glock living in my safe...

New Match Left.jpg So, I have a thing for Gen 3 Glocks. I have carried them since they were introduced as duty/off duty guns and shoot them in Steel, USPSA, IDPA, 3 Gun, and Police Combat matches.

Different guns obviously for different divisions depending on mood or time of year (I tend to shoot more IDPA in the winter months).

I also shoot Single Stack with 1911s I build myself, and Revolver on occasion using a trusty old K Frame with HKS speedloaders because that's what I went through the Academy with and because neener neener neener, that's why.

BUT...I realized that I haven't shot USPSA Limited (MAJOR) in a while. I have been shooting Limited Minor a lot with a Glock 34 in 9mm. I carry a 40 so I dug into the safe and dragged out a Gen 3 Glock 22 (LE Blue Label) that I have been sitting on for a while and started grinding into my new Limited Major pistol.

I pulled the night sights and replaced them with a set of Glock factory steel sights, which I prefer for matches, removed the finger grooves because they hit the middle of my finger joints on my wookie sized hands, relieved and rounded out the trigger guard, and stippled it to my preference (I have a hate/hate relationship with skateboard tape).

I also dropped in and fitted a Ghost Rocket 3.5 and put in an increased power striker spring for a measured 4lb trigger pull.

Happy Meal.

Needs more magwell!

You will never find one of those damned garage doors on one of my guns. I hate those damned things. Even my 1911's have no magwells.

This is my favorite 9mm 1911 that I built from a stock GI 1911A1 Rock Island. No magwell.

This is my second favorite 1911 for shooting matches...I resurrected it from a pile of junk 1911A1 RIA 45

I have, literally five or six magwells in a parts drawer in my workshop. I pull them off any 1911 I get that has one. I am not bagging on guys/gals who like them...but I like to keep my match guns as close to carry guns as possible. I am a stubborn old bastard that way.

So, I found a sight that had been sent to me a while ago. It's the new HiViz "Light Wave" with interchangeable sticks. I never much cared for HiViz fiber optics because the sticks were unsupported and prone (in my experience) to getting broken under heavy use. The new Light Wave seems to have addressed that.

I took it to the PD range for a sight in with my usual match ammo...I really like this sight. I think it's a "pretty good" option for a defensive/match pistol.

Above is one of my "general all around" carry/duty guns. Below it is a more specialized match gun. Note, the match gun has a sub-3lb trigger which I would NEVER carry on the street, but many of my match guns have a 4lb trigger (3.5 Ghost Rocket, polished to 3lbs and an increased power striker spring for a nominal weighed trigger pull of 4lbs).

You probably get the idea by now that I UNLIKE squared or hooked trigger guards.

Nice looking tupperware hoss. I never got into all the stippling things. I see where it could have function. I only ever had one glock. All those look sharp though.
I started stippling plastic guns when I wasn't totally happy after taking off the finger grooves on Gen 3 pistols. I have giant hands and the finger groove hit right smack in the middle of my fingers so they had to go. At first, I just stippled the space where I took off the finger grooves, the Talon grip tape wouldn't adhere well in the AZ heat...so I just started stippling all of them as a matter of habit. The only ones I don't stipple are my RTF frame pistols.

It's a Ford, Chevy Dodge thing.
