So is 25 cents/round the new baseline for purchased 9mm Ball ammo

how much is a pound of lead? if you cast 115, then powder bake…

7000 grain = 1 pound = 60 bullets 115 grain

I don't have time to save a few cents a round on 9mm. 11.99 a box for 124gr s&b with free shipping. Tax on everything now days anyway. I spend my time at the bench loading the expensive rounds like .357,.38,.45 and .44mag not to mention all the rifle rounds.

If ammo was back to 18 cents/ round, then it is a no brainer
It's a no brainer. Saw it on sale at 18 cents a round at a big box store. Now their sale items last only 5 days. And it is only FMJ target type ammo. I'm waiting to see 9mm in a variety of different bullet weights and types at that price. Who wants to pay $1 each for defensive ammo.
A guy should practice with some to see how it shoots, Right?

I'll be honest; even at 23 cents/rd I'm not certain that it is worthwhile to load Blammo Ammo.

I don't understand this thought process.

This is 21 rds at 30 yds with a brand new Springfield Prodigy, using a load that was developed with a CZ shadow 2.
When I say developed, I literally picked a powder, rmr 135, and randomly picked 3 charge weights, I spent a whopping 10mins developing it.
I highly doubt WWB is producing results like that. 20230430_120514.jpg

I would consider that target ammo.

I was speaking about Blammo Ammo, which is my somewhat facetious name for ammo with which to go blasting at close-range steel targets.
Close range. Like 15 - 30 FEET, not yards.

Don't get me wrong, I have been reloading and hand loading for over 35 years. I will continue that.

But, come the next shortage (which is closer than many think), that factory Blammo Ammo will again be worth 5x what it goes for now.
And I may sell.

Couple weeks ago I bought 9mm at a box store for 23cents per round. Not bad. Picked up 9mm loading dies for 55 bucks and would rather put those to use instead.

With today's prices of 9mm factory ball and the reloading component replacement costs, I see no value in reloading it unless you derive other benefits like superior accuracy, etc. Or you just like doing it. Reloadable brass cased 115 is running below 25 cents for non-member prices at targetsportsusa for example.
Better performing ammo is worth it if it's for a use beyond just shooting to stay sharp or enjoy shooting, but if it's just to shoot any other caliber is more worth reloading.

I've stopped reloading 10mm because I can deal with paying $20 a box for it (or $15 for .40 cuz my Glock shoots that just fine) and because I'd rather use my large primers for .45 Colt.

I’m at:

$.05 primers
$.02 powder
$.07 bought cast bullets

=$0.14 a round

cheaper if I cast or got a casting buddy (I have one)
115 gr FMJ. handload cost

American Reloading bullets. .06

Fiocchi SPP. .05

Titegroup powder (4.4 gr). .02

Case (free range pickup).

Total. .13

Not all 9mm’s like cast bullets, these are new 115 gr FMJ.

Pharma pay was a bit over $50/hr so I figure even retired it's worth that. Order of 9/19/23 (yeah, I have the +membership discount) delivered 6 days later:
I can afford this every 4 months or so and it takes me all of a minute to open the case and throw a couple boxes in my range bag.
No, it ain't "precision target ammo." Then again I ain't a "precision target shooter." Joe
