If this happened in the middle of the night, and the cooler full of provisions was just laying around, I could see the ticket. They don't mention any bear-proof lockboxes around, so I assume that you're supposed to rope your food and personal articles up on a line strung in between two trees. I've never heard of being required to rope your things while people were up and around, though... just at night.

That's the part of the story that really bugs me. The ticket.
