Robinson arms does not have it's act together at all because they refuse to update the VEPR section of their website. http://www.ak47.com/products.asp?cat=10 and http://www.ak47.com/Default.htm Well, I finally had enough of that second link never being updated so I emailed them. Here's the text from the incredibly informative response I got with my questions to them FIRST:
>Will you please update your website concerning the VEPRs. What is
> going on, it hasn't been updated since March of last year? Are you
> ever going to sell them again? Please reply.
[Robinson's response] "We can't get any Veprs in right now" :banghead:
SO, knowing that fbmg had mentioned to me at a gun show that they were going to start carrying VEPRs, I emailed them. Getting clear information is not so easy because this was the response:
"At this time we have decided not to carry any in the stock
configuration."
Thankfully, when I emailed them back, I got this very very helpful response (his answers in bold):
"1. Why, there's a lot of demand for them. But not at $600 each, unconverted with is what the Russians want for them
2. What configuration will you be carrying them in then? That is in negotiations to see what the Russians will change on them
3. When will the ones you WILL be carrying be available? As soon as the Russians make the changes. When/if they will is up in the air. What we ask for is for them to leave the trigger group in the same place and add an SVD style butt stock. Get rid of that stupid slant cut receiver back, and just put the normal AK/RPK front end on the minus the bayo lug and flash hider.
If you would like to see this happen, I would suggest that you and everyone else you know send RAAC [russian american armory corp] an email asking for these changes. They don't want to make ANY changes because they are afraid of the ATF. If they dont make any changes, they can keep them. The cost is just too high for a thumb hole stocked gun and way to high to convert. Sure a few people would buy them, but we are not bringing in the amount required to carry them to sell a few. It is all or nothing."
