IMHO none of my rifles need a rail except maybe up top. Really just an opinion though, I like light and simple.

Also, I don't like the 16 in. barrel on a .308, just kind of irks me for some reason. The m1a is a rifle, not a carbine, and I don't think it makes a good carbine. (unlike the AR, which makes a great light and handy carbine)

Seems like a gimmick,I don't like it.
Full length with a rail on top and a pistol grip stock would be okay, but if I'm in close something better could be had for alot less money, like my crappy Norinco 98 12ga.

I like it, and I'm getting one.
Very practicle for these thick NH woods, cruiser carry if I get cert. on it.
All I will add is a light, but I really like this rifle......

Out of the 3 listed options for "I don't like it" I couldn't find one that properly expressed how I feel, so I voted for "I like it".

Its not for me, but its certainly not a tasteless price of crap. There are a few guns that I'd put in that category, but certainly not all the ones I don't personally feel the need to own.

I guess the only thing I don't like about a rifle with all that
rail real estate is that in less than an hour I could probably
easily surpass the base cost of the durn gun adding accessories. ;)

I'd personally get the SOCOM 16, and drop it in the Troy chassis.

But even more so, and we spent many a night standing duty discussing this, the m16/m4 platform is quite a bit more intuitive for CQB. So for a .308 cqb gun, the POF P-308 in an m4 size would be just about right. That being said, I'd keep my m14/m1a in the scout squad setup, and put an acog on it (preferably with iron sights as well, just in case) And once I get a j-o-b here, my first rifle purchase will likely be an m1a.

what are they going for now? the last price i got was year 1/2 ago on a LOADED M1a NM carbon barrel-walnut stock $1800. i like the socom ll in the urban camo stock
