SOLO 9 vs SIG P938

Looking for personal experience & advice.Can any one recommend either the Kimber Solo 9 or the SIG-P938 for concealed carry? Have access to purchase either & was wondering what the mass would recommend.

I considered both the Solo and the 938 recently and

I decided on the Solo. I have 200 rounds through the Solo and am very happy with the gun. The primary reason for selecting the Solo was that it fit my hand better than the Sig, and I like the DAO trigger of the Kimber. Both companies make excellent guns. So, you will not go wrong regardless of your choice. I am going to shoot another couple of hundred rounds through the Solo tomorrow.

One is a striker fired DOA, and one is a traditional SA hammer gun.

Which do you prefer?

The Solo might feel somewhat like a DAO gun but it is not technically a DAO gun.

The Solo feels better in my hand than any other gun. I plan on buying one at some point but the reliability issues have to be addressed first.

I have not shot the solo (have tried the trigger), but have the 938 and its been perfect so far 300 or so rds. I'm a 1911 guy so the sig is closer to what I'm use to shooting. The solo may look 1911ish but trigger is not. The solo had a lot of issue at release, not sure they have worked them all out. Seems very finicky about loads. And they recommend certain ones...I don't like that.

I had a Solo that ran perfectly. I sold it cause the safety was a bit hard to deactivate everytime when drawing from my concealed carry position while trying to move my shirt and get a good grip due to the safety being so small (I carry deep in my belt line for comfort and concealment). The gun was great other than that, but a bit slick to hold onto for me since I did not have the front strap checkering like the CDP version offers.

I now have a P938 and love it. It is reliable and the safety is big enough for me to disengage when drawing for speed. I also prefer the trigger. The single action gives me better accuracy and is what I am used to since I carry 1911's.

I think it depends on what type of trigger you want and if the safety systems are something you will practice with. Also, there is the issue of night sights coming stock on a Sig vs. having to pay over $1000 to get the Solo with night sights and checkering. At least that is an issue for me since I prefer night sights on all my carry guns.

Firstly,let me thank all for their feedback. Decisions/decisions.Still undecided as to which way to go but at this point I'm favoring the SIG.Had a chance to handle both the weapons over the weekend. SIG P938 Extreme & a Two tone SOLO 9.SIG 938 ,Negative side trigger was a little grity.Positive side with the mag extension it fit my hand perfectly,nite sights a big plus,a little smaller in size to the SOLO & the mag release was considerably smoother than the SOLO & the price( $611.00 for the blackwood / $622.00 extreme & $632.00 for the sas. ) .Additional there is no recommendation for premium 147 gr. ammo.Simple 1911 take down for cleaning.
SOLO 9 Negative,ambidextrous mag release needs some relief or polishing work ,as well as the thumb safety.Grip a little to short for me but a finger ext. on the mag would fix that.Price locally ($720.00 Two tone / $760.00 all stainless & $1330.00 for the CDP).
Other that detailed above both are fine firearms with their respective differences. If all goes as planned I will be putting in some range time this weekend out at Knob Creek with both of these weapons to see if performace or lack of performance will sway my decision.

I traded my Sig 238 for my solo. The 238 kept jamming up, and was all over the place. I couldn't trust it for sumer EDC. Walked into my lgs and they had just got a solo in and put it on display as I walked in the door. I traded on the spot and couldn't be happier. I ran the manufacture's required rounds for break in then switched over to fed 115gr practice rounds. In total I have flawless rounds 325 through it. I would like to see Sigs 938 do well but I won't be trading any time soon. Good luck with your pick.

I have a Sig P938. 3 misdeeds in 524 rounds. Good carry gun. Ambidextrous safety for backup pistol. Trigger is still a bit stiff. Breakdown is a little harder than a P238. Recoil is manageable. Decent accuracy but I am only good out to 20 yards. I need some work with it.

I owned a Solo and after months goin back and forth to Kimber, they sent me a new gun and I sold it.

Have the P938 now and it seems to fire everything but ball ammo, or at least it wont fire the Win White box stuff. I only plan on carrying JHP, but would like some ball to work to practice with. May send it back to Sig and let them check it.
