I need some help here guys. I have a feral hog problem on my property and I want to hunt them at night from a feeder a little more than 100 yard out from my stand. I have been look at the ATN MK410 Spartan gen 1+ night vision scope. When I went to Cabelas today to look at one the man behind the counter told this scope is crap and I should get a Laser Genetics ND3x50 subzero laser designator. What do y'all think? Does anyone have any time in the field with these products or have a better option under $1000 for hunting hogs at night?

think id try the laser designator but unsure if it would scare game once the hogs got used to it or not, the scope would obviously be better but most probably wont work well at that range without quite abit of moonlight or a better ir illuminator.

The ND 3x50 will illuminate a decent swath of land out to 100-150 yards. However, you will have poor situational awareness with that unit. I don't think you will want to have it turned on all the time and you wont see much without it. The MK410 will have a range of 75-100 yards. Depending on ambient lighting conditions. If you can stretch your budget a bit you can try the Pulsar N550. It should give you a sight distance of over 150 yards.

I hunt hogs at night in Texas and have studied this issue for a long time. Here's my solution...I hunt from a slightly elevated permanent stand at a distance of 55 yards from a feeder. I use the red led lights that can be purchased at Texasboars.com. My setup used 3 led tubes that can be aimed independently and is powered by a 12v feeder type battery. It has proven to be deadly for the pigs. We tried night vision, red spotlights, flashlights.....this setup blows them all away. Kevin at Texasboars can help you determine which setup meets your needs, depending on the distance and conditions under which you are hunting.

The hogs are not afraid of them and I use a Burris Fullfield II Electrodot scope that used an illuminated dot at the center of the crosshairs. The cheap night vision scopes are, in my opinion, not worth the money that you spend. I think my lights were about $200 and they also come in green and in different power levels. I have hunted at night for over 15 years for hogs and this is the best solution I have found.

The ND-3 works fine at 50-75yds,over that it can get hard to identify everything in the sight picture.
I want to get a 3rd Gen PS22 night vision setup, but for what it cost,it's more a want than need.
The lights that Rangerphil spoke of work great if you are hunting from a stationary spot, but we are usually on the move, and need mobile setups.

I have the small ND-3,the 50mm should work fine at 100-125yds.I just didn't want to have a giant/heavy light mounted on top of my optics.

I mounted a solar powered light on one of the feeder legs and it illuminates the hogs well enough to shoot at night when using a scope. The white light doesn't bother the hogs as they like to be around the feeders at night.
